I'm going to start out by asking everyone to put what the thread is about in the title. I HATE threads that are "What happens if...." or "I need opinions on....." Just say what the fricken thread is about.
Now on to your question. Short Rams intakes and Cold Air Induction ar different but if you are looking at ebay they may just use the same pic for all their sales.
This intake is generally as short as possible placing an air filter right on the MAF sometimes.
Cold Air Induction:
Cold Air Induction or CAI places the filter away from the engine and the heat more, usually in the bumper. This gets you colder air and usually helps get you a few extra hp.
Ram Air Intake:
A Ram Air Intake is engineered so that fresh air blows directly on or is ducted right into the filter. This style of intake gets the best results. CAI's are often called Ram Air Intakes even though alot of them aren't true Ram Air.
Hope this helps and I hope my info is 100% accurate. If not it's close... lol
