Myopic, I know how you feel. Wife is pretty much forcing me to sign over my RS2 to my son. Too many vehicles. But he learned to drive in it, went to college in it and now carries my grand baby in it. Will try to keep it running so she can have it when she gets her license. But that will be a while.
Very cute grand-daughter! Apparently it will not be too long before she drives; she is already in the driver's seat. :D

They will be hard pressed to sell it. It's hard enough to sell one with over 135,000 miles for more that 3k. If they can spoil it for that I will be very surprised. Here they couldn't sell it for 1k

My last 2 xbs, I paid less than a grand each. They are easy to find with blown motors at buy here pay here lots as repos or title loan repos etc with clean titles for like $700-$800 each. They are of course stock. I just replace the motor for $350-$400. It takes me about 8-hrs in the garage. They one I'm building now came from a title loan repo. I bid on it and got it for $750.00. It had a smack on the drivers side doors as if they hit the pillar around the gas pumps. I had a parts car the same color. Swapped doors. Changed out the whole interior because whoever owned it smoked in it. Done.

Go Ray!!! Well if you mess this one up I'm sure you have a few more replacements at your house. Lol

No messing up man. But yes I have a couple spare xbs here. Lol. Measure 6 times...cut once..

Clean cuts for sure Ray !! Will you have or need supports for the roof ???
I never got to drill the pilot holes or anything last night. Family time. Gonna try to get it done tonight. I want to get some clear silicone.

I have been talking to friends about whether or not to add additional supports. I had one of these in another project a long time ago and never needed additional supports. 1/2 say yes and 1/2 say no.

There is not much for support in general in the roof of an xb. The factory 5 support bars are not even welded in to begin with. They are just attached with what looks like black spray foam to hold them in place. I will probably buy 1" steel straps just in case.

Once the top is in I will sound deaden all the way around anyway. Which will hold up what is left of the support bars at the edges of the roof.

I will post more pics as I go. Stereo guy is coming back tonight to program the alarm system and tie it into the door poppers.

Who needs welds when you have spray foam. LOL LOL LOL

I'm sure what ever support you come up with is better then spray foam.

I kid you not, it just sits inside of a channel slot at each side wall and the only thing that holds it to the actual sheet metal is a couple spots of spray foam.

Finally received the strut bumpers, isolators, and upper mount dust seals, so I completed the exchange of stock springs for the TRD lowering springs. Hope to not get a nose bleed at the new altitude. Changed oil and filter. Installed a new battery.
Ha!

BTW... Still have the swag they gave away too !!!!
I a lot of cool people over the years as well. I ditched the scene for a few years dealing with all the issues with my yellow one going off for paint and getting messed around. a lot of those people and I lost contact. down here where I live a lot up and come around when they want something and that's the only time you ever hear from them.
