Anyways I decided to jump in and start taking the passenger seat apart last night. The hog rings are easier to pry apart than they appeared just used needle-nose pliers, small vise grip pliers, and a screwdriver. The seat back is done so I'm about halfway done with installing the heated seat kit on the passenger side just need to do the seat then on to the drive side.
Were any parts of the seat, such as the tension rods, a problem for placing the heating element between the cover and the cushion? Thanks.
I have no upholstery knowledge or experience so the technical terms escape me but if by tension rods you mean the rods running in the fabric across the seat and seat back holding them to the foam then yes they were a pita and possibly the biggest issue. There are two hog rings per rod. I had to cut holes carefully into the heating element pads with out cutting the actual heating elements for each hog ring. I'll take pictures when I install the kit in to the drivers seat I'm reluctantly assuming the two seats are the same, but I think I'm going to wait until the weekend to take the drive seat apart.

I do have the passenger side reassembled and tested I believe both the seat and seat back elements are functioning correctly. Yay me!
Yes, the two seats are set up the same with the position of the rods.

I have been considering installing seat warmers in our xB, and wondered about any modification necessary. I appreciate the heads up about having to cut access for the hog rings.

Sounds like you are installing it perfect with the heating elements and with the wiring. Great work!
Thanks, and I don't know if it's actually perfect but I'm sure it's near perfection. :nerd:

Ha!

I put full moon hub caps on Thursday. Modded the overhead console for the heated seat controls. Today I finished installing the heated seats. I took pictures of the install but I'm not done editing so I'll post those soon... I guess I should start a build log.

Here's an image of how I cut the heating element for the cross running seams, I gave a few more details here.

Added velcro to my dash to hold my phone while I drive. Replaced driver's side wiper blade. The harness for the wiper broke, so I got a RainX wiper. Also updated my EZpass registration with the new permanent plate.
Replaced the plugs in da box, cleaned the air filter and the MAF !!!!! Now were good to go for the next 40 K !!!!!!!!

I've owned 2 sports cars since my first gen xB... its too soft of a ride for my liking, handling is mushy, and compared to my Abarth the fuel economy is garbage, and i drive my car like i stole it

We have both XBs, have to agree the ride in the 2nd Gen is softer !! I did add the rear swaybar, front bar and tires are aired to 40 PSI and this has helped but... Still not to my liking !!!!!!!

Now my XB is SOoo stiff that there is NO sway and love the ride !!!!!!!!!

I thought the xB was rather stiff. It's way stiffer than my old Lincoln.

The mirrors and window trim on the Toaster were looking a little rough so I decided to take care of them. Some Rust-Oleum trim and bumper paint, some masking, and BAM! Good as new!

Before

Masking

After

Definitely worth the $8 amd few hours of work.
