I went to change out my sway bar bushings and it turned into this. lol
while crawling underneath I noticed a missing nut and stud
on the crossmember where the mount goes..
after tearing it all apart I'm
looking at a couple of bolts holding the steering rack strap down I might
replace them also
replacing the sway bar bushings are easy when its all torn apart lol
the good fight against rust continues

trying to stay oem with as many accessories as possible.....just a personal quest of mine.
that is me with as many replacement parts as I can find
no matter the cost
and if it is that much money go find used
and that goes for all of my rides
I'm tired of buying what I call Annuals
meaning I'm replacing the damn thing every year.
I drove my car today
about a 900 mile round trip
it ran like a fine swiss watch

I went and met a guy today and bought a pair of seats that are better then what I have
then I wrapped them up and stashed them in the garage
funny story
He had me meet him at a gas station
and right after I got there another silver gen 1 pulled in a few spots away
a min later he pulled up in a gen 1 and went to the other guy! lol

I figure they will go in after I make the outside pretty
I do like that interior light mod above as you can't see inside the car at night
even with the light on
I have a line on a Thule roof rack I'm thinking of getting

while doing a oil change
I got out my fog light stuff and looked at
what I have going on to installing them
found the plugs for the lights
everything looks good there up front
pop open the fuse cover
and in my middle relay spot is
no contacts to hook the relay up [email protected] grrr
so it looks like I will need to take the entire fuse box apart
and spilt it in half
to see if the contacts for the fog light relay are buried inside
the fuse box.
nothing is ever easy!
it never ends LOL

The relay goes in on the side towards door and is a b1tch to get plugged in. Had the fuse box loose and had to blind monkey hand it in there.
that was my next angle at it
loosen the box up and stab at it blind
I just haven't had the chance yet.

I just ordered a quart of paint
and when I paint my fender I think I'm ripping the nose off and I'm gonna spray it again as its chipping
and the color match on it sucks
I should of done a spray out first but was in a hurry.

Today? Drove it to work after topping off the coolant. Still haven't figured out where I'm losing it. Not into my oil, luckily. It's been soooooooo long since I've even had to think about coolant issues in a vehicle.

Need to make some local gearhead friends I guess, haha.
go to auto zone and borrow their coolant pressure tester
and you will have it figured out in about 3 minutes

its not easy
I have the bottom screws off and its still not moving
I probed around blind for a while with no luck
trying to come in the back going towards the front?
I even tried the side going in
and I can feel other relays back up in there.
read a few more threads and saw some more pics
it looks like it slides in between the 2
I will try again when I get a chance and will wonder how hard is it to rip the whole dash out. to get to it. lol

yeah, it sucks but the alternatives suck worse.....look at pics and see which way it goes and keep goin at it. I got to the point of giving up but too hard headed to be defeated.
zero quit here. I will get it done eventually
I just have too many other things going on
that I don't want to waste a bunch of my time with it on the weekend
like slap a transmission back into another vehicle
finish up welding in a frame rail into another vehicle (and too much more!)

I just peck away here and there when I get a chance
I gave a good attempt yesterday
even pulled out a relay and checked its orientation and put it back in.
and after feeling around a bit and then coming back on here to check out
that pic again and I have a pretty good idea where it goes.

Success at last!
I figure when I rip the dash up for the switch
I will do a radio swap and change the blown Speakers out
I saw your post on Speakers And I have a question
While I have your ear
Did you make those jumpers or can you buy then somewhere?

thanks for all the info
you are a great help 04_ Toaster
it makes it even easier to do this stuff
after reading about the fog lights
I figured the relay was the big hurdle and the rest of the install was cake.
that's why I went after it first
I finally have this car mechanically sound and tight
now to make it look half presentable
my backordered paint just got shipped so it should be here soon
I have some rocker rust I'm going to attack when I paint my fender to match
and one of my rocker skirts is broken and I have a replacement for it.
I will make a thread on tackling the rocker rust when I yank the skirts off
and another rust repair that I have in the wheel well.
I'm willing to guess my rocker rust is from previous accident damage (before I bought it.)
I want to knock it out soon because it only gets worse if you keep ignoring it.

New radio installed
It already sounds better even with blown speakers lol

Got my foglights installed
And nothing when I turn it on
No power at switch
When I check for power at the switch I can hear the relay
Click so I'm pretty sure it's in the right position
It looked like the fuse is in there
I'm going to have to dig further
I always do it the hard Way it seems 😕

New oem pcv & maf on the way.....just because almost 20 yrs old. New NGK coppers.

Did new oem gas cap and hose clamps on the big hose of the charcoal canister chasing P0442 and P0456 small evap leak code I got the other day. My gas cap o-ring was pretty crispy but not cracked and that big hose down on the charcoal canister is aged and not cracked but wasn't very tight and somewhat easy to turn by hand so pulled it off and put a hose clamp on each end. The small line connecting charcoal canister to the steel line going to engine compartment was aged but didn't feel cracked anywhere. It has a clamp on both ends. The 2 pieces under the hood going to throttle body are new but need to find the leftover piece of hose from replacing them to do the short piece back by charcoal canister to also eliminate that being the culprit. Cleared fault with Torque app and will see if it is gone or comes back.
I've been battling the 442 code for a while
I made the 442 code go away for about 60k
there is a thread on Scion life that tells you how to pull the valve apart on the canister
and you can clean it out and I made a new gasket for it.
mine was all rusty nasty inside and stuck
it worked for a while but I think I'm just going to replace the canister itself next
istead of messing with it anymore.
I went thru the same thing changed gas cap that didn't do anything
checked all the lines then I ended up at the valve.

the only thing I have done with the box is order up some speakers
and adapters just like 04 Toaster did
as I don't want to throw much loot into a sound system
I swapped my radio and I think only 2 speakers work. lol
it sounds ugly right now
I've been busy putting a transmission in a truck
and its a beast and its been too long since I yanked it out which doesn't help.
I've been itching to pull off my rocker skirts
and attack some rust and get my fender painted up
after new tires and a alignment
this thing has been running great
