All these lights came on the dashboard. The VSC, trac light ,and check engine all came on when I started my 2009 xb . Does anyone know what this means ? I've looked on u tube people are suggesting get paper clip and stick in the plug you put your obd code reading in . They say to put the clips in certain plugs . But I'm kind of weary about that. Can someone tell what's going on.?

I had the same issue. I guess scion activates all lights when the engine light comes on. If you do not have a code reader, i suggest going to a auto parts store, they do free check engine light checks. get a look at what the codes are and go from there to fix the issue your car is having.
Hi, I read your post. I had the same problem with the same lights being on with my 2006 Scion xB with a manual transmission. I just fixed the issue, today I went to start my car and I got no fire. So I thought my clutch positioning switch went out so I bought the switch and no go, I then took the starter out and had it tested and it came back ok. I put everything back together and my car started 2 times and the 3rd nothing again. I then gave the starter a good wack and it started 2 more times and the 3rd nothing. I wacked it again and it started 2 time and 3rd nothing, so I took my starter and got a new one and installed it. Now my car starts right up every time and the VSC, Trac, and Check Engine lights are all off and have not come back on. So, I guess them coming on could mean that something is wrong or going bad with the ignition or starter.

In my 2005 manual XB, the VSC, Trac and Check Engine light finally went off for good when I replaced my clutch (in 2010).
Get a OBDII code reader, my 2008 xb showed codes pointing to the evap. Gonna hit the junkyards to see if they have any to try and clear this issue.
Definitely get the codes read at Auto Zone or Advance Auto. Difference between 1st and 2nd gen xB. The lights are a generic indicator. Need to get the codes read.

My 2008 (2nd Gen) has the three lights up and flashing VSC. Codes turned out to be five codes ,P043E, P043F, P02401, P02402, and P02419. All evap related. I heard there was a TSB re: water dripping from the fuel neck filler into the evap filter. Gonna see if LKQ will save me some cash (new evap canister is $400+)

is replacing the clutch expensive?
