A good friend of mine that has a slick little lowered Turbo Bug is setting up a neat little run and he wanted me to see if any Box folks would like to join.

In a nutshell, we are going to run a route we take on our sport bikes, it is fun CUUURRRVVVYYYY run. We are gonna meat , drive, eat, drive do some antuiqe shoppin and the do it all in reverse!!! It will be fun, hangin out with some car nits, hangin with the family, good for all.

I think it will be cool if to have the small curvy ride and the boxy ones cruisin.

Here is alink to the the actual info. Let me know what ya think...

Some pics of the run....also a write up by my buddy off the Bug site.

Well the trip went as planned. Here is the skinny

Note: No laws were broken in the view of any law enforcement, that can be proven.

Met at Wal-Mart at 7am. We left about 7:30 and hit the road. The first change in plan was when we got to the western part of 157. The stretch from 287 was under construction so we had to double back and hop over to business 287.
This first stretch from 287 to Venus is a very fun road. They are in the middle of laying new asphalt so a couple of bump here and there but no big deal. A quick stop at this little service center in Venus where there was this codger of an old man. We stopped for air in the tires and he didn't like the looks of us” city folks" one bit. "Aint got nuthin for free here, airs a dollar...per car. With the old man 3 dollars richer we were back on the road.

This section from Venus to Maypearl was a blast. Still on 157 this road is high speed and lots of hills and makes for a fun drive. After Maypearl it was on to Grandview on FM916. This section was under construction for the last 2 miles but was OK over all.
Past Grandview it slow driving as you wind through town and onto the next section of good road. You have to jog over to the next section of Fm916 on 171.The stretch a few miles from Rio Vista is a blast.
After Rio Vista it's a hike down 174 to Morgan. Now this stretch is either super high speed or stuck in traffic. This time it was a little of both. Before we got to Morgan we stopped at a state park just off of the Nolan River for a "pee "break. We took this opportunity for a photo op.
From Morgan we head west on 927 to Walnut Springs. FM927 is well maintained and there is a stretch that is flat and straight for about 2 miles. Right in the middle is a nice drop in the road that makes mah tummy fell funny. When you get to Morgan you have to wind through town again and make your way back to FM927 west. On to Iredel
The road from Morgan is one of the best so far. Long sweeping corners and lots of tight turns really get your heart rate up. It’s a good mix. Once in Iredel you turn right onto FM1238.This little bypass puts you right at the entrance to the Cranfills Gap road (FM1238). It was 9:20 and everyone was hungry so we opted to eat first the run the road. We turned right onto HWY6 that takes you right into HICO.

The Koffe Kup. Nice little old house across the street (see photo). Breakfast was great and a little too filling. I can't believe the size of the marainge on the pie. Oh, don't forget to bring cash. After a long breakfast we head. I had Pancakes if that matters.
Back up HWY 6 to FM 1238 and a right turn puts you on one of the best 12miles of road in Texas. The speed limit is 60 and not one of the corners has a suggested lower speed. The majority of this road can be run at well over the posted speed limit in Arizona. There is only one cross street and almost no traffic on this road. If you hit it early on a Sunday everyone is in church and traffic is non-existent. If you hit it around noon on Sunday you with come across a few Lincolns and Buick’s doing 40 mph so watch yourself.
From FM1238 we hang a left on Fm219 to Clifton. This stretch is very nice but traffic is usually a little heavier. The Sheriff likes to patrol this road. Clifton is a little bigger city but we just bypassed it today. Here we turn right onto HWY 6 and then on to Valley Mills.
In Valley mills you take a right onto 317, which will take you into Crawford. The road is a mostly straight hwy that just good for speed.
In Crawford we stopped for fuel (in the XB) and to use the facilities. Every building in this town had some kind of George Bush poster or banner or something. It reminded me of Photos from the 40's and how patriotic this nation used to be. It made me happy to see some areas still sticking with that tradition, or it could have just been for the materialistic goal of commercialism. Anyway, onto McGregor.

Still south on 317 we passed through McGregor.....pretty sure we did but I didn't see it. Roads conditions still decent through this area.

From McGregor to Moody then onto Temple and Belton. In Belton we got on I-35 and headed south to Salado. The drive on 35 is, well, the drive on 35.
In Salado we hit a 1/4 of the Antique stores and had a great time. There are Artist Galleries and new stores as well. Then it was over to Old Mill. The Pizza was a good as ever and then it was time to head back.
Back on I-35 and we were back in FT.Worth in no time.
We didn't get any pics other than the few I will show you here. We just enjoyed the roads. Next time we can stop for official photos and the like.

Some Photos!!
