Can I put 17 225/50/R17 Tires on my new Xb....do you need to adjust the lift or put a lift in.....or can you ride on the spension as it is stock. will they fit if I get rims for them. Does it alter the speedometer...???

I would think a tire like this would give a better ride//// it is a wider and meater tire.
what considerations do I need to make?

ian I just do it...throw them on?

Maybe a 225/45/R17. Still has a good sidewall and should fit better. Nice width too. Had them on my GTi.

225/50-17 is way too tall for the xB. I personally wouldn't run anything taller than 215/45-17. 215/40-17 is as close to OEM rolling diameter there is.

i HIGHLY would recommend against that. a 225/50/17 will be a little over 2.1 inches more than stock diameter. that will probably rub heavily, and look very funny on the car. i would say if you want comfort, at most, do a 215/45/17. even that though is almost an inch taller than stock.

if you want ride comfort, i would ultimately say forget going with 17s, and do 15s or 16s. just my .02

and boxd, that is kinda tall for an 18. thats like 1 and a quater inches over stock. when you're going 60 on your speedo, your only doing 56. id hate to think how messed up the ODO is now. at least you have a pretty decent ride i would assume!

For 18 inch 215/35-18 are the closest to OEM on a 7.5 inch wide wheel. 225/40-18s are almost an inch more rolling diameter. 225/35-18 are about a 1/3 inch more.

Yeah, it wasn't my decision, thats what the tire shop put on. And yes the ride is better, almost like stock. However you got the speed thing backwards. The bigger the tire the slower the speedo reading compared to actual speed. It's the whole static radius thing, used to get into that heavily when I had over sized tires on jeep I used to have.

I have 17x8.5 wheels, i suppose 205/40?
thats a smaller tire than i have on my 17 x 7. thats going to have a stretch to it. if thats what your going for than that might work. i'd ask stankubrick. 205 is the skinniest 17" tire you can get in the states. you might need a 215 or 225.
