i have 205/40r17 tires on my 17X7s, and my speedometer is still accurate.

compared to stock they are about .4 inches shorter in diameter than the stock tires.

215/45/r17 is the stock tire size on a TC and is adout a half inch taller than our stock wheels.

either choice should not affect the speedo as far as i've seen.

the 205/40r17 tires are about half the price of the 215/45r17 tires i priced.
Kuhmo makes the 205 in their Ecsta 711, check out www.summitracing.com thats where i got mine.

205/40/17 is the norm on Civic's and seems to be right on an xB, I'm running 215/35/18 and I think that is about as close to 205/40/17 as your going to get for sidewall height.

From what I've read (in reference to plus sizing), 215/40/17 is what's consider the proper size relative to speedo calibration.

A 205/40 or 205/45 shouldn't change much (if anything) IMHO.

Old thread, but I just installed wheels with 205/40R17 tires and the speedometer is just a little bit off, but I think an acceptable margin about 3% less actual speed than indicated.

Hey guys I just got some Xxr 501s 16x8 +15mm offset. My questions are do I need hub centric rings? And I've read that I should use 205/50/16's but I went on 1010tires.com and it shows that 215/45/16's would be closer to the original tires size (the 15's that come with it) except for obviously width. I don't want a stretch, I just want Rims and tires that are flush with the genders and a decent ride, thanks.
