Where does the speedo gets its reading? rear wheel or front wheel?
wheres the sensor located?

Not sure if this is still the cas but my 65 stang has the speedo cable runs to the tranny.

so does this means its reading off the rotation of the front wheel, since the rear wheel has no connection with the tranny?

That would be correct it reads off the drive axle.
