Theres a lot of new stuff going around, and Im pretty good at keeping up with it. But what about SKYPE, can some educate me please?

its basically using your computer as a phone and call people for free through you internet connection.

It's free as long as you're calling their skype screen name. other than that it costs money. it's pretty cool if you know people who has skype and you can talk to them on it. I don't get on it much because I don't have anyone to talk to.

So its just like Vonage but a different service provider?

same principle as vonage being thats its internet based but not limited to be at home wired to a modem. I called a customer one time and he was on his laptop in another country. Its like anywhere voip.(voice over ip)

I use Skype almost daily to see/camera and talk to my brothers in Germany via computer. Been doing it for years, we did a conference call yesterday. Before Skype, I used MSN Messenger. Sometimes we use a combination of voice with skype and video over Messenger. It's free! :)
For anything like Vonage, you have to pay. However, there are some carriers now (http://www.freeworlddialup.com/) and others coming out soon where if both parties have one of their phones, their calls are free. (http://www.efonica.com/efonica/site/about_efonica.html)
