Or, you can go to any reputable trailer supply and they can also get the hitch, it is a Curt by Da Lan. Unless you are skilled in wiring I would recommend that you have that done by the trailer services shop, the hitch is a bolt up but unless you know what you are doing you can mess up the wiring.
thank you thank you

Most Teardrops will weigh 900-1300# and I would NOT suggest that they be towed with an xB. The TAB is also above that weight.
Is this just a basic disclaimer for YOUR protection or are you speaking from your experience? After seeing that you can tow it (somewhat practically) I'm sure alot of Boxxers are interested...I am.

I'm not thinking of hookin one up and touring the country or anything but if it works for weekend camping trips and stuff I'll look into it more.

What is your honest opinion after pulling the trailer?

I thought I had written an honest OPINION.

What I wrote was based on my experience in towing DA SHOO for 2,600 miles with my xB. My recommendation is based on that experience, it is not a disclaimer nor to protect me (Scion does not recommend towing with an xB). If you tow irresponsibly and do damage to your xB Scion will not fix it, do I need protection from a law suit because of what I have said about my experience? I don't think so.

It is also my OPINION that weekend towing of a heavy trailer is not responsible, if you wouldn't tow it across country then I don't believe it should be towed.

What shoo box is saying is that most trailers you can buy off the lot are too heavy and the one he has is special made. The ones I posted a pic of are too heavy. (Which, I said in my post).

Some comments:

Yes, I originally had the Teardrop built for towing with my MINI Cooper and towed it about 5,500 miles. When I had it built MINI-USA was not recommending that anything be towed so I had it built as light as I could. Latter MINI-USA did establish a tow rating of 1,430# and DA SHOO is about 675# loaded to travel.

looks much heavier than 600 some odd pounds. but cool bens. it'd be cool if it was fiberglass and nicely shaped/styled.

I quote myself from earlier in this thread regarding hitch suppliers:

However, I would not attempt to carry a powered wheelchair on the receiver hitch. A battery powered wheelchair will weigh is excess of 100# and I would not put anymore than that on the hitch. I feel the same way about using a bike carrier on the hitch - two bikes maximum because of weight and how far the third or fourth bike is cantileavered (sic) away from the rear of the xB.

These are my opinions and others will disagree I'm sure.

the hitch manufacturer said a tongue weight of 200 lbs., but with a powered wheel chair rocking around on that litttle hitch... welds will break and parts will fly
