I got a 2008 scion xb about a year ago and I am now looking to mod it. It's a fairly uninteresting vehicle as of now. I want something to add a bit of a 'cool factor' to it. Anyone have any suggestions?
The 2nd Gen xB ( and I have a 2012 9.0 RS) is powerful enough to surprise quite a few cars. There's exhaust/ intake/ and heads obviously, most everyone does that - but to change the "dynamics" of how it rides, a upper strut bar should surprise you. It's a inexpensive mod, and when you hit the corners, you'll notice how well it takes the curb. Also HPS makes a short ram intake which adds 7.1hp & 8.2 trq. No you're not gonna beat Civic Si or anything with 200+ hp but down low, and midrange you'll be right there ( almost door to door) now if your xB is a stick, you can go all out nuts ( motor wise ) and add a turbo. There is a YouTube channel called: " Scion xB Chaser Racer." His is a 08 too- and his latest goal is 600hp. His old setup, started at 383hp to the wheels 🛞 where he beat Hellcats, Corvettes, 5.0 Mustangs, infinity, all in the 1/4 mile. ( it's on the end of the turbo intro video) then he bumps it up to 550hp then a piston failed. He works for a airline, and he did all of this in his garage.. Anyway, if you want your mind blown on what xB's can do, check ✔ out just a few of his videos. He knows what he's doing. Remember, our cars only weigh 3,089 pounds. My suggestion? Suspension and bolt on for now. You'll notice the difference.. Not unless you meant cosmetics, and there's a plethora of choices there.. Spoilers, carbon fiber gas lids, wheels, etc. Enjoy!!

Yeah I have an automatic. Any suggestions on bolt ons?
Start off with the HPS short ram intake. Comes with a big heat shield easier to install. You'll notice the difference. You can YouTube "HPS short ram Scion xB" you'll be slightly faster than stock ( That's my goal anyway ) Makes a good throaty throttle sound too without being like a fart can..

What are you wanting out of your mods?

Speed?
Handling?
Stance?
VIP?

What you do will really depend on what end result you are wanting out of it. I generally recommend you figure out what end result you want and that will help dictate what mods you want to do to get to that result.

Im not really interested in a bunch of speed as I'll never be able to afford to have a crazy fast box, although some increase would be nice. I'm more interested in a show car. Something to just stand out. Things that'll make you look twice at it.

OK, then you'll want to focus more on wheels, stance and general cosmetics. If you really want it to stand out you'll need to think of a theme for the build and plan the build out beforehand so you keep it on theme,

For example, my current build is called Steelpunk. It's a modern steam punk with steel mixed in. So I've got lots of brown leather, wood, copper, brass and steel inside with some accents outside and body modifications. 20 inch wheels with air suspension and a heavily modified suspension.

You need to figure out what end result you would like and work toward that end. Also set yourself a budget and time frame in which you want to accomplish this. Otherwise you will spend lots more money doing this than you expected too.

First off that looks fantastic.
2nd. The only thing as far as a scheme or theme I've decided on is blue. I'm going to repaint the valve cover blue. I'm going to get some headers and make them blue if at all possible. I don't know if blue wheels would be tacky so right now I plan on making them black. And getting black taillights as well as black headlights. I don't want to stance it too much, but enough to make a visual difference.

Hi, I am Choctaw Cowgirl and I understand how special XB's are! This is my Baby "LIL SURF" she has genuine BBS Rims, Stance Works Suspension with air shocks, Thule Luggage Rack (in my case for surfboards) Power Chip for extra acceleration, Cassio Leather Seat Covers. Curtains throughout, Fancy Headlights were $1,000 each, Mini Bra, and even the engine is beautiful! I would like to trade for a larger vehicle that I can transport my 34" mini horse inside (I'm moving from Texas back to California) anyway I just love all the attention I get and wanted you to see the potential these lil XB Treasures have. I met a man the other day that owns a mechanic shop and he told me he has over 15 pics of my car on his cell that people has sent him when they see it in town, (Made me smile when he told me that) Have fun and enjoy the journey of your creation of your XB!

I have some DC headers and s-pipe, with cel eliminator, for sale. Headers are heat wrapped. They’ll add some decent flow and sound, if you add a decent cat back exhaust as well. I had a straight pipe basically with custom tip, but left the factory, “scuba” cat on and it was pretty loud. If you live in California and are pretty well versed in basic mechanical stuff, I just switched out the headers and intake manifold every 2 years to pass smog. It takes less than an hour really once you have a system in place for removing it. I also have a used INJEN cold air intake for sale, ll just have to replace the filter it was damaged in the accident that took my XB away from me. The pipe is in excellent condition.
