Oil Burning issues, Anybody?

Does anyone have oil burning issues?
158k + miles now.
She burns through a quart every 11 - 1200 miles. There is no oil under the engine or under the car at all. There is no smoke or colored exhaust coming from the tail pipe. Just a little bit of oil on the ground behind the tail pipe from time to time. I can also smell it, it's subtle, yet there.
She is my daily driver and I drive about 70 miles a day. Average speed, 70+/-.
I've been using various products to clean the motor every gas fill up.
Anybody else deal with these issues?

I've heard of the 2AZFE ( 2nd Gen) having oil consumption issues but not the 1NZ Never been in an accident? Motor replaced? None of that? Maybe check your Vin # to see if there were any recalls in the past - you do drive a lot of miles every day. Others should chime in..
I have about 205k on my car
It has been
Smacked a few times
And I burn close to a quart every 3k miles
and instead of adding oil
I just do a change.
I have no drips and it's dry underneath
No smoke out the exhaust either.

I think it is a little excessive because
It never was even low between oil changes
Until about the last 10k miles.

The only thing I do notice is around the valve cover up top is a little wet around it
I was thinking of throwing one of them on
In the future when I get around to it
to see if it helps.

There’s a procedure called Piston Soaking. I’ve read about it but not performed the task. You’ll want to have all your cylinders tested first to determine a base line of compression.

This process may span a couple weeks but could make your 158k engine more oil efficient. Check the into the process, there should be YouTube vids of this…..Berryman Chemtool B12

My 2013 Scion XB started to do this right after I hit 125,000 miles. Both the dealership and Valvoline confirmed this happens often with these engines.

Plus they don't make these engines anymore! The dealership found a used one with 50,000 miles but wanted to charge me $10,000....

My one buddy offered to completely take the engine apart and rebuild it, but I honestly didn't have the time.

Instead I went to Carvana, and found a 2015 Scion with less than 5000 miles on it! It was a miracle. I didn't want a new car payment but I basically got an upgrade with a backup camera.

So yes, you can either keep putting oil in this, try to get a new engine, have someone rebuild the engine or get a new car...

He's got a 1st Gen so idk. I've never heard that for Gen 1 burning oil. You're right about 2nd Gen I agree 👍
Sure. Got my '06 from the OO at about 165k, with all the receipts showing that the dealer (yeccch) changed the oil every 5k (I would do it at 3k but it wasn't my car then). It's burning a quart or so in 3k. Just hitting 180k now. Clean everywhere. I'll evaluate after the major maintenance and decide whether to do something.

1 quart in 1k seems a bit much. Are you sure it's motor oil behind the tailpipe?

I bought this car as a commuter replacement for my Tundra. The toaster had 147k miles on it and was in need of the basic TLC maintenance. However, the car did burn around a quart of oil every full tank of gas or 275 miles. After several engine flushes/ oil changes later, and dumping various carbon cleaners into the gas tank (only cleaners with naptha in it is worthy), she now burns a quart every 1100-1200 miles. Plus she does run much smoother and stronger then when I first bought her. The owners manual reads, unless the vehicle is going through 1.1 quarts/600 miles of oil or less, do not be concerned. I know its normal to burn a little oil, including crankcase blow by,....and I have made an improvement since I bought her. I'm not stupid concerned about it. I just thought somebody out there may relate and have some thoughts, other than valve seals or new piston rings.👊🤙

My 2006 burns a quart every 3,500 miles. I change every 6,000 miles so I just add the quart of oil. My 2006 is at 207k miles. My xB runs extremely nice and powerful. I'm not concerned, not ideal but again, not concerned. I will get this car to 300k miles, IMO with zero effort.
