I finally got it done. I painted my engine cover and added some chrome lettering I ordered from Randode.com

Looks good, how much sanding did you have to do?

I used some 800 grit paper so I wouldn't put any scratches in the plastic. I then sprayed it with primer, then gave it a once over with the 800 again. Then about 3 coats of the base coat (silver) for good coverage. Again the once over with the 800. Then I started with the final color, which is actually Red Metalcast paint. I put a total of 10 coats of the red on to get it the color that it is. If you make sure that the surface is very clean in between each coat, very little sanding is required. After the red, I put the lettering on it, and then applied 4 coats of clear.![]()
