That would be sweet! Unfortunately, it would cost too much to meet federal regs - you almost have to design a car with the US market in mind to make it cost-effective, and the Kei segment is strictly JDM.

OTOH, the first-year Beat is just old enough to import without having to jump through any hoops - no import restrictions at all on cars at least 25 years old. Find a clean '91 and bring it over. Mid-engine, RWD, light, hoonable. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_Beat

but... "1.0-liter turbo rumored to pump out more than 125 horsepower—and that it’s earmarked for the United States."
They may bring it to us

If they're designing it with the US market in mind, then that makes it more likely they'll give it a go. 125 HP would put it a shade under 15 lbs per HP, slightly better than the current Miata (which is a shade above 15 lbs/HP). For comparison, the V6 Mustang & Camaro are both about 11.5; FoST is about 12.8; GTI is about 14.2.

At less than 1900 lbs with the MT (830 kg with the 660 cc engine), it should be hella fun to toss.
