I used the about a 1/4 to a 1/2 inch around the mounting area on the fenders. The fenders where $90 a pop.

No welding, I glued them in with panel bonding adhesive. Stuff can be used to glue a bedside skin on a truck.

Okay, now I get it. I thought you had used that whole section inside the fender to mount the markers. Nice idea, now you know why I tell peeps to PM you with bodywork questions!
