From what I have heard, the shiftpoints are controlled by the ECU. Even from personal experience, I have seen this (won't shift to OD till a certain speed, converter doesn't lock up till 37 MPH, and so on). I don't know if there is a way to make the ECU provide a 'crisper' shift, but I definitely see a need for it in MY xB. Maybe there are some internal 'tricks' that can be done to provide this, but I don't know if the ECU will allow it.
Transgo has shift kits for alot of different apps. but this is the only Toyota application I found

We're working on it at the shop this week since I work at a trans shop. I've already messed with the accumulator springs, droppping the valve body and drilling next, and as soon as it's tuned I'll have pics and part numbers. Have you seen my trans cooler, it helps get me over the Baker grade at 100mph and the temp is only 200F with AMSOIL. The stock T-IV boiled over and left me in limp mode the time before.
I have a new stacked plate cooler from my Astro (didn't install) it is for 18,000 gross vehicle, do you think it would be an over kill on my xb ( its almost half the size of the radiator)
The lower the trans temp, the longer the trans will last. install the bypass temp valve if you worry about it not getting hot enough but in CA you don't have to worry about that.
Does anyone know the proper way to change a automatic shifter? Do you just unscrew it take it off or do you have to do anything else. I want to replace the stock shifter nob on my automatic xB
Yeah the OD is only effective once u have just hit 3rd gear n are round 50 mph, its really nice at that point though, shoots right up. What sucks is the beg n mid point, thats the AT though.
the best stuff for an auto tranny this small is a small cooler and then delving into teh ecu and changing how/when it shifts the trans should be perdy sturdy for a good amount of power.
