I thought this was going to be a quick clean up
do a little blasting rust treat and prime/paint
oh was I wrong
most at this point would Punt
but I can fix anything
ok lets show off the carnage first

this might take some time as I try to figure out and source
some parts
if I cannot find it
I will make it if I have to
I have a pile of Sheetmetal behind the garage from parted cars
I can use but I prefer to find the part I need first
anyway I will journal what I do over how long it takes?
as you can see it looks crusty around the top of the skirt

so when I changed out my fender
I pulled down the skirt
this is what I found!
and I thought my rusty motor mount was bad..
we call this rust free In New Jersey
for a second I thought I was working on a 50 yo Mopar ! LOL

its looks like you would have your work cut out for you changing
out this whole piece.
now I have to get my hands on one and figure out how too attack

I just noticed that when I went back to look at it
I'm going to have to figure out the actual part number and go a hunting for that part.
I have seen a 04-6 quarter panel listed which might be the same part.
but I need to investigate into it further
I'm surprised there isn't a crash part made

Yall with your ugly rust issues???? Yall need to move away from where you're living! I have a silver 06 Xb and live in Colorado. I haul ass through every single snow storm we have..... my cars been parked outside for the last 13 years and the only thing I've got is a teeny tiny bit of surface rust where it's taken a couple rocks on the highway straight to the face!! If I saw rust like that on my car.... oh Lord!! I'd h.ave to dump it off on somebody else to fix!!! Poor Xb
Thank God we don't have salt like that in our street sand!!!

I have a buddy in Colorado that supplies me
with a lot of clean original metal for my mopars
he told me the reason that it is so dry where you live
is that you do not get the morning dew in that area
we get it here a good part of the year
add in that I live near the coast that gives you a salt bath thru the air
off the ocean and I have the double rust whammy going on
before I even get to winter.

this kind of repair is right in my wheelhouse
just another miracle to perform on a car. lol
this is a easy one compared to what I've done in the past.

his name is Mark he does restorations and parts dealijng
I yanked off the other side skirt that was rigged up
a dent and some surface rust
I will pop out the dent and clean it up next
that's is how I thought the other side would look like. lol
I did find a replacement part available that is pretty pricey
I want to do more research before wasting my money on it.
