Do you pick the RMS or the Peak power for amps

the subs imn looking @ are 850 rms and 1700 peak
is a 1500 watt amp too big for this sub ?

nah that amp should be fine for that sub if you have 2 of those subs tho u may want another amp to get sum good boom :)

Dont know if u wanna run it that hard. Cause a peak rating is the most power it can handle for 1 sec. Id go maybe 1200 w rms

well at 4 ohm power its 500x1
at 2 ohm power its 1000x1
then at 1 ohm its 2000x1

or the other amps
250x1 @ 4 ohm
500x1 @ 2ohm and
1000x1 @ 1ohm

The amp is a powerbass xta-1200d and its one ohm stable and the sub is there 3xl-12d where the rms is 850 and peak is 1700 and is dual 1 ohm stable for normal impedance

thats fine but what im saying is u cant wire the sub at 1ohm since its DUAL 1. You can wire it at 2 or .5. so you might wanna find something that will give you more power. Plus i doubt that powerbass amp puts out rated power.
