What should I really pay attention to.
Anything in particular that should steer me away?

Needs a little work, brakes, tires, tune up.
Engine and trans seem fine.
Some dents and dings, like some tree branches fell on it. Not great but not terrible, for the price I am ok with it.

cannot go wrong for $800, I've searched FB marketplace and craigslist and nothing less than $3000

Well, she is on the road.
Still need to get tires but so far, so good.
I have yet to drive it, my son keeps taking it.
This weekend I will drive it.
