I wouldn't be surprised if it's because of the gas used in the winter....Don't they have different blends for summer and winter?? I thought I read that somewhere around here..

Yup Yup Yup...winter blends tend to kill gas milage. Wait till spring and see if it doesn't improve.

I get between 30 and 32/gal, year round in South Florida. No winter blends, no hills... I pretty much get the same on the highway as I do around town.

i noticed something lately is that since i got the scangauge 2 i've been monitoring the engine load and mpg frequently and it seems that since i live in a hilly area i get really crappy gas mileage. i can see the mpg drop down to under 5 mpg on fairly steep angles. i'm pretty sure this is the cause of my crappy gas mileage as i drove to virginia from nyc and i got 31 mpg driving about 80-90mph almost the whole way

^^ If I had the cash, I'd be getting one of those myself. SO many things can be done with that device, it's totally worth having.

try a diffrent gas station. in the summer i use 76 brand gas...and in the winter i use cheveron gas... i notice that with the cheveron gas in the winter i get way better mileage than the 76 gas... but in the summer i get better gas mileage with 76 in the summer.... thats just what i have noticed.... and like they said... the vvti engine will base your MPG on your driving habits to maintain the best drivability out of your car....so drive slow...excelerate slow and you will notice a big diffrence in doing that alone....

think you have something else wrong, change your plugs and air filter will be a good start. I'm sure most XBs are getting close to 30mpg of mixed driving, you are in the 20mpg range which is NOT good.

It's a weak engine. You floor it in the city from stoplight to stoplight to keep up with people and your mileage will suffer. I can make my average mpg drop to 27-29mpg if I beat on my car. If I drive like a sane human being year round I get 33-36 mpg all year.

I've had my 06' for 3 weeks. I've filled up 4 times now and have a 1040 miles on it as of last night. I get around 270 miles per tank so far. 80% of that is freeway driving @ at about 80-90mph. I don't baby this thing and don't watch the speedo as much as the tach and do have a tendency to keep this thing around racked around 3-4K on the shift points. I checked my milege this time and it was 31.16/gal.

Going 80-90mph will hurt your mileage as well. 60-70 is a great balance of speeding and mileage.

if i can get 31 mpg avg driving 80-90 for 3 hours its fine with me
i get about 25-27 in local driving with some mild highway. which i think is normal because of all the steep hills i have to drive around.

Another thing to remember cause i get pretty bad gas mileage in the winter because I let me car warm up before i take off and drive....so my car is runnning any where from 5 to 15 minutes before i start to drive. that might be something you want to think about.

yah but it's not a big V8 were is sucks gas up at idle. Letting your car idle for 10 minutes is prolly over kill unless it's below freezing temps, but either way it shouldn't effect the MPG that much since these are effecant lil motors.

I can't say I've had bad gas mileage either. I'm averaging 32.629 mpg since May 1, 2006. Mostly city driving also. With 28,000 miles, I would also check the air filter but I'm not sure about the spark plugs.
