Front and rear wheel bearing replacement help

Hello,

I have a 2006 XB with 88K miles and I believe I have a bearing (or two) going bad. I have to say that I am disappointed that the bearings could go bad so soon. This is my first XB and the only work I have done on it so far is changing the accessory belt. Does anyone here have experience with the bearings (front or rear)? Are there any nice write ups with photos? I've tried searching but came up empty. Lastly, the dealer is crazy on their prices. Where can I find quality aftermarket bearings and hub assemblies? What is the brand of choice?
Help will be appreciated.

I just replaced both rear bearing assemblies. It was an easy job. The hardest part was being able to see to disconnect the abs sensor wires in the hubs. A small screwdriver lifting gently on the tab did the trick. Found out my left rear was trashed. The right rear was still good but I replaced them both. If anyone is short on cash and needs a used rear let me know. I'll sell it to you for cheap! I love getting factory OEM parts off of Amazon! I paid less than$100 each for the bearing assemblies and they are the same as the original ones that I removed!:)

Sorry to bump an old thread but for those who've bought wheel bearing/hub assembly from autozone, do you know if the bearing is already in the hub? I ask because the guy at autozone didn't know either and I don't want to buy it and then have to go to a shop and pay to have them press it in as well. Also, this is the part/s from them

After looking at it again, that one shows it having 5 lugs yet says it'll work on a gen1. So confusing.

A little update on my original situation. I really wanted to change the bearings but when I took it to my mechanic he couldn't diagnose anything.

Told him only the passenger side I can hear it grinding but he was the one driving. He said I could wait another 5k miles to see if it gets any worse.

Today I hear that it's louder then making a left turn, as the weight shifts right. Could this be bearing or the entire cv joint needs to change? It's just so difficult to hear it as our boxes are not too insulated against other road noises

I've got my left rear wheel off again for 3rd time trying to work on getting the bearing/hub assembly to "let go" of the plate that all the brake hardware is attached to. First time it's being replaced so it seems to have rusted into place. Soaking it with PB Blaster, Freeze-off, and banging away at it just enough so I don't get to point of no return. So close but no cigar yet.

Finished one side and took pictures. Will attempt a DIY for rear bearings later.
