Better handling can come from better tires also. But the softer compounds that make slot car turning so enjoyable also don't have a long tread life.

For instance, I had a set of Bridgestone S-03 Pole Positions on my Matrix. They were over $200 each, they would stick like no tomorrow and it was a blasy driving on them, BUT, they only last about 24k miles, and that is with a ton of freeway driving.

Falken now has the RT-615s, and I hear those are the to-go tires for stickiness.

i head the best sizes for 1st gen xb are 16s

ohh yeah i have 17 inch mb 7x with cheap tires and stock springs.i gotta watch out for pot holes or else imma start have a bobble head.
