My husband loves my scion so much he wanted one too. We found another 2006 with only 95,000 miles and picked it up today. It is so much fun to drive them around together, I wish people met up in my area we would definitely go. He is a little bummed out though, we think something is wrong with the brake system. During his 2 hour drive home with it he heard a rubbing sound in the back when he would stop and the car would wobble in the back. We are hoping its not an expensive fix because we paid $8400 for the car as is. :-( He is taking it to Midas in the morning for an inspection.

Congrats!
A rear wobble probably means the rear bearing hub is worn out
Its Not that expensive and pretty easy to replace.
I replaced both of mine and used koyo hubs
As they were the oem bearings used in these cars.
Good luck with both of them
Thank you! I hope that’s what it is then. If so we will look for those hubs thank you. We love these cars they are so fun! ❤

It could also.be a junk tire falling apart
Whatever it is, it should not cost much to fix.

These cars are addictive.
I bought mine as a spare or maybe to flip
I started using my car When my truck broke
I always thought that there would be
a day That I would regret it and not yet!
I know eventually I will get another Really nice one
After I kick a few other cars to the curb First.

Lol yeah that’s a lot. I would like a mini cooper too one day but keeping the scions no matter what.
Mini Coopers. Those cars are BMW's worst management endeavor. BMW claims that these cars last a lifetime........What BMW fails to tell you though is that the "lifetime" is 100,000 miles.

Beware when buying one of these cars. Do your research. Don't "impulse buy". I mean, they're great cars and drive reliably but the thing is when they break down, the repair isn't going to be simple nor is it going to make financial sense to have the repairs made. When they stop operating, it's because something becomes majorly damaged, possibly beyond repair. Things like: Broken timing chain, broken transmission, broken head gasket, overheating, etc......major stuff. The last Mini Cooper I serviced came in with an oil leak. No big deal. Oil leaks happen. I removed some items from within the engine compartment to get a better look at the source of the leak. As it turned out the source of the oil leak was between the two halves of the engine block assembly. This required the engine to be removed from the car and the engine block halves to be separated, resealed then reassembled then reinstalled into the car. $4,600 later, the car was running again. 9 months down the road, the car came back with transmission issues. $3,900 later the car was good to go. I still see this car from time to time......blue smoke puffing out the exhaust pipe. The car isn't even 10 years old.

Want some advise? One word: Lease.

That’s horrible! Yes I have read lots of reviews on them and that’s why I never bought one. I figured I would do what you are saying one day and lease a new one so I can give it back without the headache or loss of money. That’s crazy the person spent that much money I would have gotten rid of mine at that point.

As a prior BMW service advisor 18 yrs and one of the first mini Cooper advisors for 2 miserable painful years. I’ll take a stage 5 mini jcw werks manual trans on a track any time. lots of fun but to actually own any mini.no way!!!! possibly lease maybe??? I’d rather have a boat with a hole in the bottom. BMW same more expensive more complex lease/dump. Unfortunately I have 2 wanna buy one??? Lol
