This is not normal. ABS light indicates a fault in the ABS system, meaning your brakes could possibly lock during a panic stop and put you in a skid. The fault could be anything from a dirty sensor that needs cleaning to a failed component that needs replacing. The ABS system triggers its own fault codes that indicate the part of the system causing the problem.

The first post on the page linked below shows how to clear the ABS code. The fourth post explains how to interpret the flashing lights in order to determine which code the system has stored. Page 05-281 of the Factory Service Manual contains a code chart that explains what part of the system each code relates to: http://www.clubxb.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30793&page=3
