So I'm currently on vacation and 250 miles away from home and my box is having issues, high revving, it's not idling well, and it's trying to stall out
I have no idea what's up with it and I'm worried

Is it throwing any codes? And - this'll sound dumb - is the gas cap properly screwed on?

Sounds like a vacuum line has come off or split. Or possibly a sticking IAC Valve. (Idle Air Control Valve)

These cars have 4 coils on each spark plug wire. Pull your plugs and look for one that is fouling and replace the coil and plug wire all in one piece. It will fix your problem. Good Luck

Very late update but it was the transmission, had to get my dad to tow it home and spent close to three months swapping it

Wow. How much did that cost you? Was it worth it though?
300 bucks, got another 6K miles out of it before it started to misfire and developed an exhaust leak
