Re: DIY Split by generation?

personally i read all of the DIY's as some stuff does apply/help with the 2nd gen that is for the 1st gen and vice versa. I have read a 1st gen DIY and went "on man that is a good idea, I should try it" and I have a 2nd gen.

It would be nice if they were split to help people that need only gen specific information but...... there arent that many DIY's and they are broken down by category so.......I dont see any need due to amount of DIY threads....add 1st or 2nd gen to the title and you are golden pony boy!

last tid bit....... close this thread ahahahahaaa.....i kid.... i kid....sort of as if it isnt going to happen there is no need to continue the discussion and Dtrain has explained the situation very clearly.... but thats just my opinion

Re: DIY Split by generation?

Can someone point me in the direction that explains what all of the differences are between 1st and 2nd Generation are and when (date/serial number) the change was made?

I have done all kinds of searches on here and I cant find the differences and when it took place.

Joe

I just bought an 06 last night but havent gotten a clue that there was a split in the generations, lol!

Re: DIY Split by generation?

Ok, gen 1 is from 04 to 07 (6.5) box. Then gen 2 from 08 to current model. The 08 on are bigger in size and with bigger engines and acc. are more standard. The 1st gen are way more square that the gens 2s, but have better mpg than the gen 2 models

I knew about those two but there are posts stating that there are 2004-2006 and then I have seen some that say there are actually 3 generations:

1st Gen 2004-2006
2nd Gen 2006.5-2007
3rd Gen 2008+

That is why I am confused.

Re: DIY Split by generation?

The 3rd gen will be coming out soon. The 6.5 box is really a gen 1 box. The only big difference here is that it has the steering wheel control for the radio. And it was continued till the NEW 08s came out !! Hope that helps !!

Just remember: No matter how many times you see it in print, there was no 2007 xB. IIRC, the 2nd Gens made their debut in late '07, but was marketed as a 2008.

1st Gen: '04-'06.5
2nd Gen: '08-present
3rd Gen: When they hit the streets.
