Enkei 92 15x8 tire size?

So it's been a year and I finally ordered suspension, koni street shocks struts and HR sport springs at 1.5" drop.

I am undecided on wheel and tire size.

15x7 +38 tire size 195/55/15 boring yet functional

OR.... 15x8 +25 195/55/15, 195/60/15 or step up to a 205 ?

Which tire size will fill the gap and not rub? I sure would prefer the 15x8, no idea on tire size though. Seems like everyone goes with a much larger drop. I know the 195/55/15 on the 15x8 will fit but will it look funny on only a 1.5" drop?

I would like to order asap.

2005 TCM / Koni / H&R / Hotchkis / Enkei 92's / Injen / Focal / Pioneer.

Tried to keep it stock but everything keeps breaking, could of bought a new car by now.

I don't thing you will have any rubbing issues with the 15x8 +25 wheels. I have 15x7 +35 wheels and still have a lot of room. I'm running 195/60R15 tires. If I did 15x8 +25 wheels I would get 205/55R15 tires or even 225/50R15 would look great!

Re: Enkei 92 15x8 tire size?

I wanted 15x8 rims but did not want to worry about rolling fenders, tire rubs, etc. I went with 15x7 +40 wheels and 195-60-15 tires. I'm lowered on Tein S-Techs. Front wheels have 3mm wheel spacers for brake clearance and I have 1/2" hub spacers in the rear. I think it looks great. Not as cool as the 15x8's that are more "flush" but practical for a daily driver, especially on Tulsa OK's terrible roads. Good luck with your decision!

Those tires are meaty, I like it! Why did you need spacers for brake clearance on the front?

The Drag DR-20 wheels have a flat surface on the back that can cause a slight rub on the brake calipers. One can take a grinder to the caliper or like I did, use a 3mm wheel spacer. I bought a set of 4 CNC machined spacers on eBay for about $35. I left the rears off after I installed the 1/2" hub spacers.

I am a big fan of 17-18" rims with low profile tires. But the ride can be punishing especially if you live somewhere like Tulsa OK where the roads are awful! I'm also a fan of the hellaflush look, but with a daily driver did not want to have to worry about tire rubs, rolling fenders and the like. I think my setup is a good compromise. And the ride quality with the 15" tires is great!

Good luck with your purchase!

Re: Enkei 92 15x8 tire size?

Yea I like a larger wheel too but just not on the xb. I wanted to play it safe and run 15's for comfort. I'm really leaning towards the 15x8, wish I could try different tires to see what I like better.

Custom rims, wheel tire packages for your ride - RIMSnTIRES.com

Play around with website. I just did a comparo between my combo and the same tire with 15x8 +25. It upsized the tire to a 205 and it says that it will stick out .7" further than my setup.

Re: Enkei 92 15x8 tire size?

I just got Enkei Apache II's in 15x8 +25, and I'm planning on 205/55/15 for a mild stretch. From what I've researched on the forums it shouldn't rub or have problems, and with a 10mm spacer in the back it'll be very close to flush (I think).

---------- Post added 03-11-2016 at 05:57 PM ----------

Oh, forgot to note I'll be on TRD springs with Koni yellows, which should be a 1-1.5 inch drop.

(Not a dude.)

I really like those wheels, nice choice. Post up pics when you get everything installed, I'm really interested to see how that looks.

Looks great!! I just picked up some Tein S-techs myself and have the same mindset on flush-ish look and ride comfort. I thought 16x7 or 8's, but tires seem to be more prevalent and a little less expensive in the 15" range.
Thanks for posting! I have a blue xB also so gives me a better visual. Post more pics!

Re: Enkei 92 15x8 tire size?

Anyone have pics of a 15x8 wheel with a mild drop? I was set on 195/55/15 but with only 1.5" drop I don't want it to look silly. I'm almost scrapping the idea of 15x8 and getting the enkei 92s in 15x7 and run 195/60/15.

This is my daily/ work car, I have been searching for a new fun car that will get the more aggressive wheel fitment.

Re: Enkei 92 15x8 tire size?

Those look so good. I am in love with these wheels. I just can't make up my mind on what to do. I already have hr sport springs but they won't be low enough to run 15x8 and look good. I have been trying to install my suspension for a few weeks now but stuff keeps getting in the way. Maybe it's a sign to get lower springs...

Re: Enkei 92 15x8 tire size?

Finally installed the koni and HR springs today. Wasn't too bad of a job. Holy balls does it ride so good now. I am way more than impressed, it is much softer than I expected though.

Time to order wheels and tires, why is it so difficult haha

Re: Enkei 92 15x8 tire size?

Well I didn't get exactly what I wanted but im happy overall. Major difference with this car now.

Enkei 92 in silver, 15x7 with 195/60/15 General all seasons.

The rear sits perfect, the front could be a smidge lower but it's not bad. The ride quality is unreal compared to before and that's what I needed since it's my commute car for work.

I think the tires look perfect, I may have to paint the mesh part of the wheels eventually though. They are more of a bright silver than the flat silver, like in the pictures on tirerack.

I am currently searching for another mazdaspeed3 or maybe a wrx as a fun project car, but for a daily driver, I'm very happy with the xb now. I NEED BOOST.

I even popped on a injen short ram, I used to have a k&n cold air on it but went back to the stock air box cause I was having a ton of check engine codes. Ever since I went with the energy suspension motor mounts, the stock air box was vibrating and rattling like crazy, driving me nuts. Now it's silent as a mouse mostly.

Unfortunately my air bag light is back on, I just replaced the driver side seat buckle and clock spring last summer. I need to pull the code and figure it out. If it's the clock spring again, I might say eff it and go with an aftermarket steering wheel. I'm normally very serious about safety but if the air bag won't work anyway, might as well add a little style.

Long post is long, I need a dedicated thread for my car apparently.

I think you made a wise decision, just like I did with my similar setup. Daily drivers are about compromise. Post pics when you can!
