Re: sway bar bushing question

Man that sucks that those bolts are being a pain, Ketchup. Mine came right off, as I recall. My car has almost 100k on it to. The biggest hang up I had installing them was getting them to line up while putting them back in. I'm sure If I had some ramps to do it on, it woulda helped. I think the swaybar is supposed to be loaded while replacing them via jackstands, which I didn't have and was to impatient to wait for. I just wanted to get them on. I thought they made a hell of a difference, especially compared to a front strut bar. Those don't do crap in my opinion.

Re: sway bar bushing question

just did mine today.. Took about 12 min each side. The hardest part was finding a way to get my b up on the ramps. Ended up pullin off the lip.
One huge helper was using the jack for the install. Just like the D.I.Y said. I had the car up on the ramps, undid both top and bottom bolts with a crescent in the middle. Removed the old bushings and washers then jacked up the side of the car I was workin on(didnt lift the tire off the ramp but close to). It raised the sway bar to make it possible to remove the oem bolt easier. Otherwise your stuck trying to raise that bar about 3-3 1/2 inches rather than about 1" using a pry (or large wrench) I also used the recommended 4" 8grade bolts and nylon washers.
Handling and response has definitely benefited.
Easy,cheap,VERY effective mod.

Re: sway bar bushing question

yeah, i did this too last week. forgot to post. i worked one side at a time and used the stock jack to flex/unflex the sway bar. i didnt have ramps so hadto improvise. middle finger was bleeding lol. and daaaaaamn the handling was amazing. i was skeptical at first coz i didnt think it would make a big difference but man was i wrong. steering response and handling was tits. everybody should do this mod.

Angry Re: sway bar bushing question

I am attempting this as I have lost all hope on all mechanics as I've asked several to check out my suspension and none of them have seen this. These really are as bad as I think they are right?

Car jerks from left to right mostly at highway speeds with steering wheel close to center, It feels like it re adjusts... example, if I turn slightly left, it will jerk slightly left as if re-adjusting and it doesn't do it again until I turn slightly right, then it jerks when it re-adjusts right. It used to do it with more severe turns and slowly but surely it got to the point where it does it with any unevenness of the road and with the slightest of turns... as in changing lanes.

I the sway bar links are culprit, and I am extremely pissed at all of the mechanics that didn't catch this.

Please help.

It looks like your bushings are pretty pancaked but mine were actually much worse. However, I didn't have the handling problems you are. Mine was just a little loser when swerving and turning quickly. Good luck with your fix. Welcome to cxb btw

Re: sway bar bushing question

thanks for your help. I'm going to start there since I need to replace them anyway and then go from there, The car was in an accident a couple of years ago and it started showing those signs about 6 months ago. I don't have the slightest idea. I guess I'm going to start switching parts out until it's fixed.
