Un-Official Daytime Running Light Thread

All my DD's have had DRL's until I bought the XB 1 week ago. I knew that going into it & will not drive w/out burning the bulbs during the day

I thought about going w/ the Rostra LED's but at $350.00 or so, I kept looking until I came across a great product made by Philips:
Philips 12820WLEDX1 DayLight 4 High Powered Luxeon LED Daytime Running Light
The install is very close to plug & play. The pics dont do it justice, but they are bright white.

Not sure if others have done the DRL's, but post up pics & details on brand & part no.

Joe

Re: Un-Official Daytime Running Light Thread

Thank you Sir

For safety reasons, would like you guys to consider. Ever drive in the early morning hours or late afternoon, cars are not very distinct & are grayed out w/out lights / DRL's.

DRL's are important for all of us

This kit is a no brainer. The DRL's come on automatically & shut down when you turn on your headlights

What are the lights dimensions, also how did you mount them? I'm thinking about adding fogs and DRLs to my 06 xB.

The cutout must be 4.74" x 1.004". The lights come w/a steel mounting sleeve that the lights clip into

This Amazon link has the mounting PDF down at the bottom of the page

any one know of any set ups that are a little bit bigger. Something that will fill a 6x3 square hole?

I'll post the result as soon as I install and wire them. I'm going to end up running them to my parking and front blinkers. I have a relay to get them to turn off when the blinking light turns on.
Here's the link to the relay:
Radioshack 12VDC 1amp

LOL. I'm embarrassed to say this, but the hyper flash was intentional. It's significantly more annoying for other drivers, and I'm hoping they know I'm there and pay attention to where I intend on going.

Big fan of Day lights- not mandate in California yet it was standard in Canada.

I wired sons MR2 to run his fogs as DLR

Re: Un-Official Daytime Running Light Thread

Anyone know if there would be a problem if I disconnect the parking light LEDs and use them as DRLs via a automatic controller? These new cars are sensitive to anything out of the normal in circuitry it seems. My Xterra is not recommended to jump start
Got the interior LED replacements for the map lights and dome light ordered yesterday, hitch and wiring harness this morning for $110. Amazon and Ebay are getting a lot of my money. Now to figure out the TPMS as it went of this morning after just getting the tires rotated Friday AM

Re: Un-Official Daytime Running Light Thread

@autobotguy , I was wondering what 3/4" LEDs you used? Also, how hard was it to get them hooked up to work as DRLs/Fogs? Been wanting to get the large LED clusters that they use as an option in the last few years but can't seem to find them besides from the dealership for $300+ and yours is the best looking alternative that I've seen.

Thanks

Re: Un-Official Daytime Running Light Thread

I know the automatic controller is very easy to use and around $10. It can also dim the lights when it detects headlights are turned on and can flash with the turn signals. Yeah I hope the silver hairs can see me now.
