I am looking for a way to have my dome light turn on when the car is unlocked just like the factory system. I have searched for hours and cannot find a way to make it happen.
I installed a Keyless entry and push button start system a few months ago and connected the Power lock and unlock wires to the blue/white & yellow/black wire in the drivers kick panel. My issue is that the dome light does not turn on until a door is opened.
Is there a wire at the door lock relay or the factory keyless entry receiver that I can attach the unlock wire to to make this work?
Your link has the same wiring colors that I have. My keyless entry system is connected and everything works. Even door unlock and lock. My only issue is that the dome light does not turn on when it is unlocked. I am sure there is a way to do it, I just can't find it.
With tapping into the wires in the kick panel the xb thinks that the drivers or passenger door unlock switch was triggered and therefore no dome light. My goal is to have my keyless entry make the car think the factory keyless entry triggered the door to unlock therefore turning on the dome light.
It is a iKey+RS from Bulldog security.
It does not have a dome light supervision wire.
I have added lights but everything I have added is controlled by the dome light via Solid state relay.
I attached the wire diagram for the iKey system.
actually you can use the ground when disarm wire to send a negative pulse to the door trigger wire upon unlock/disarm-this should electronically trick the car into thinking the door was opened...hence the interior light should come on
The problem with the ground with disarm wire is that it does not shut off. It is a constant ground from the time its unlocked until it is locked again weather the car is running or not.
While that doesn't make a lot of logical sense that that wire would be a latched output..typically its a ground pulse output used to disarm an existing oem alarm. And your desire is to have the interior light to come on with unlock,so it can be used in that situation.
Honestly He doesn't need to convert the output to a pulse. The door trigger/light input is a negative...meaning
if you apply a ground to that circuit the lights come on. The OP desire is to have the interior lights come on when the unlock signal is sent...this should accomplish he desired goals. Electrically it would be as if someone opens the doors from inside every time the unlock signal was sent...and closed it upon lock.
I know it's starting to over-complicate things, but couldn't you use the relay I referenced to energize a simple relay to provide ground?
I would connect the trigger of the timer relay to the "ground when disarmed" wire from the control unit (white wire on accessory harness) and send the output of that relay to energize a simple relay to provide ground to the door trigger. Set the timed relay to turn off after 1 second, give or take...
The net result would be to send a ground pulse- it should look like a door trigger to the system.
With some digging, I'm sure you can find one device that will provide the ground directly instead of activating a second relay, keeping things simpler (and better)
I fixed the issue, well sort of... I had the battery disconnected for a couple hours while installing some stuff and when it was reconnected the lights started working like they originally did with the factory fobs! I have no idea why they didn't work but they have turned on with every unlock since.
Thanks for all of the help, I appreciate it!
