Not happy with my new window vent shades

They didn't fit perfectly.
Paid $51.
Ordered from local Pep Boys auto parts store. Employee told me it would take between 3 and 5 days for the package to arrive. It didn't arrive for 3 weeks.

The vent shades on the front doors don't line up with that little metal piece on the window frame. The metal piece I am talking about is the thing that lines up the glass as it reaches the top of the window frame.

The rear vent shades are a little bit too long and when properly installed, the center portion of the plastic bends out away from the window frame.

I like the way they look, but still not a happy camper with fitment.

Does anybody else have this problem? The brand Name is: AVS Ventshade

Re: Not happy with my new window vent shades

I have AVS vent shades as well. The rear drivers side come off every time I roll down the window. I think I need to remove the shitty tape on there and use 3M double sided tape on it. Maybe trim the end pieces slightly. The drivers front used to bend in when the window was down, the window wouldn't shut all the way unless I pushed out on it before rolling up.

The little metal piece is adjustable to the vent shade opening, the instructions tell you to adjust it before installation. I figured it out after I already installed one and had to remove, adjust, and reinstall.

AVS fit better when I used them in the past on a Camaro and a Grand Am. They seem to have gotten crappier over the years.

Re: Not happy with my new window vent shades

For the best possible fit, O/E "monsoons" as they're known here (and in New Zealand, that other hot spot of bB ownership) are probably the way forward. Toyota dealers in the UK can get them, but it's probably most cost-effective to buy from a Japanese breaker.
The genuine Toyota parts are slightly deeper than aftermarket ones too, these are the (O/E) set supplied on my car back when he was new and fresh from the factory, the extra depth allows the windows to be as much as 2" open without rain coming in and keep prying eyes from seeing what's going on inside on occasions when Mrs B and I are wild camping in the bB:

All of that said though; I do like the slimmer profile of yours and it's a shame that these aren't as good as they should be.

John

Is there any where specific we can buy those bigger oem style vent shades? Love how big it is and how you can keep the window a couple inches down and still be dry from rain! Looks great

Are they the same as these shades???
