You should consider installing a stealthbox or just some woofers i have some and the resonance is amazing the back rattles but that's easy to fix
You should also consider installing air ride

Re: Project Craigslist- "Caitlyn" Gen 1 xB, #2

The dream is over

On the 5N right by downtown on Tues night on the way home from checking out another xB and traffic was stopped. Driver in a Jeep wasn't paying attention and rammed me going 30+ and pushed me in to a truck in front of me. Both bumpers were above each of my crash bars and the car was destroyed. Both air bags deployed and rear frame is bent. I was hit so hard the rear seat support bar was bent and there is a "V" between the 2 now...rear hatch is pushed in and both doors will not open.

All doors are in tact and there is a lot to be salvaged from the subframes and rear. Gonna see what the appraisal has to offer next week and may buy back if the $ is right. Stay tuned for the part-out. Also, in need of a solid daily if anyone knows of one in Seattle!

Glad your ok. Sad to see another xB gone especially with all the work you just completed.

My biggest fear is someone rear ending me because they were not paying attention. Especially with everyone looking at their phones and texting. Reason why the auto manufacturers are coming out with the pre-collision systems because of people not paying attention.

If you have a daily driver xB in great condition, an accident is the greatest risk to killing it

This is how I look at it, too.

Whitej, sorry about Caitlyn. I'm gathering that you are ok, so that is the important thing.

Re: Project Craigslist- "Caitlyn" Gen 1 xB, #2

Thanks gents! After some reflection, glad the car was solid and saved me. I am getting back in to the car zone and shopping around.

So, insurance hooked it up. They will fully cover the car at almost $5k, wasn't really expecting that. I have an opportunity to buy the car back, basically pay what I got it for, LOL.

I may start a part-out thread. Trying to gauge interest. The interior is in perfect used condition, minus the air bags. I want the tranny and clutch back for my other whip. Other than that, I would plan to strip the car and sell the remaining parts. All 4 doors are in good shape and everything electrical works.

Parts I can imagine will be good:
-Front and rear lips
-F/R suspension
-Front impact bar
-harnesses
-all interior
-rear hatch handle
-4 doors
-b-pillars
-rear hatch struts
-rear wing
-roof
-weather stripping
-All glass
-roof rails
-brakes, brake lines, sensors, dome light, actuators, steering wheel, radio, bezels, tach and speedo, glove box

Here is some math:

What I have in to the car- $500 car+ $300 tranny+ $250 windshield (still good) + ~$200 CVs + $80 fluids + $10 wipers + $200 tint/supplies, etc.
Total = $ 1,540

Insurance covers at $4,800 and "buy back" is $600

Total Net= +$ 2,660 and I get to keep the car in it's current state

I see people posting parts on CL here and complete doors are like $100 and have been listed for quite some time. No glass ever listed or anything like support beaks, blah blah. I could ship a lot of these parts, but I have no idea what they will go for. Originally my plan was to swap anything I needed in to my 2006.5 and flip the blue one. I have a few cracks in door panels that could use replacing. With the damage on the '05 now, I am curious if it makes $ or sense...

Has anyone done anything like this before? I find it ironic that I was looking for a rear axle before all of this, now I have 2...I don't want to be storing tons of parts in my garage for a year. I would like things to move quickly.

I am basically trying to make money on this deal. Trying to stretch the limits of my part out skills and also find out state laws for something like this. I may do more in the future. What are your thoughts?? Will wrecking yards buy frames for crushing? will they buy them if the suspension is removed?

Help appreciated! Also trying to get my post count up to list a thread, should I decide to part.

Fo Sho! That's actually a part I have never had off of the car. They are solid and won't roll up for shipping right?

I actually test drove one and it was missing from the driver's side. The guy had listed the car in "excellent" condition

If the seats are the leather ones you should in the project thread I'd like to have them and the rear lip. Can you PM me info and prices?

---------- Post added 12-09-2016 at 12:43 PM ----------

Also? Did you have rear disc brakes conversion? If so, interested in that too

---------- Post added 12-09-2016 at 12:45 PM ----------

Also need read window actuators...both sides

You have an 04-06' without steering wheel controls, correct? Thought I'd get that out of the way. The air bag plugs for the sensors are different. I will PM you about a seat deal I think will work better for us both! I actually have several sets, but the ones I posted in this thread have not yet been installed.

No rear disc yet...

I am debating pulling the doors completely apart. I need the front driver's door panel for my other ride, so if I end up pulling actuators, it will mean a complete door tear down. Still thinking about this one...

Any other takers? Things would be super cheap! I constantly hound Amazon for parts and other sources, so they'd likely be less than 50% new + ship. Just want to get close to $300 for parts and the tranny and clutch will pay for itself!

I haven't actually bought the car back. Waiting on paperwork. Do you know if they roll up, or are they solid? I can take measurements if a long package is needed. Thx
