It's bigger on the inside.

I have a 2006 xB that I recently got off Craigslist. 5 speed, with 140k, with replaced headlights with halos, 17" wheels, and looks to have a 8" Bazooka bass tube in the back.

I will mostly be keeping it stock looking except for a few minor things.

I recently did a tune up and I guess this will be a place to kind of keep track of things too!

Tune up at 140K.
Spark Plugs - NGK Platinum
Oil - Mobile 1 5w-30 Synthetic - High mileage - decide to go with high mileage after all.
Oil Filter - Napa Gold
Trans fluid - Royal Purple 75w-90
Coolant Flush - Refilled with Zerex Asian
Thermostat Replacement - Napa - Altrom brand with gasket.
Air Filter - Napa brand can't remember the name.

Next thing to replace will be the Windshield. Has way too many rock chips, counted about 11! Hopefully get this replaced today or tomorrow.

After that, I need to get my 2 front windows checked that they are not too dark, they look too dark for me, so don't want to get a ticket for having them too dark. Along with checking my brakes and seeing how much life is left on the pads.

Then I need to replace my tails, both of them are cracked, hopefully I can find some nice stock ones for a good price!

Future mods.
CAI - probly short ram one that I saw while looking around.
Exhaust - haven't really looked into this yet.
Lower it - either lowering springs or coil overs, again haven't really looked into this yet but would like to lower it.

That will probably be it. Just want to keep it running good, and looking nice!

Re: It's bigger on the inside.

Thanks!

Also forgot to mention, will also be replacing the shocks & struts and suspension bushings when I lower it.

Probly go with KYB for the shocks and struts and some poly suspension bushings, probly form Prothane if they have them.

Re: It's bigger on the inside.

Another update at 140k, got a new windshield put it, 2/25/14.

Thanks Skyman, as I do plan on doing a lot of searching and asking questions here for the some stuff I will be doing.

Re: It's bigger on the inside.

Well haven't really done much with this thread. But figured I might as well lol

Anyway, just some pics I took months back, I need to take more, and better ones XD and some updates to keep track of for myself...

Replaced the front brakes on 1/17/2015.

Still haven't had a chance to check the rear...

Had my first break down 2 days ago 1/28/2015. Loss of power, Dash lights come on, I get home, check the codes, and got P0301. It ends up being the ignition coil. Going to NAPA after work to order it, Denso #DEN 6731306 tail.aspx/Ignition-Coil-OE-Manufactured-Part/_/R-DEO6731306_0377740778

Re: It's bigger on the inside.

Thanks for the links Zman. Still haven't really looked into lowering it, but would like it to be as comfortable as possible to stock, while lowering it to eliminate the wheel gap. Basically will be just for looks XD so chances are will just go with lowering springs, just have to research which ones are the right ones that I need to get for what I'm wanting to do!

Also, another update for myself XD

Installed new Ignition Coil (pics) Looks good by the way, and will be buying the other 3, so that I know that they are all brand new, will probly be a bit tho, maybe like one ever other payday lol

Re: It's bigger on the inside.

Another update for myself lol

at 147,2xx miles on Fri 2/27/15. Had forgot about it until now to update this.

Finally got the other 3 ignition coils. Since I had a problem with the ignition coil on cylinder #1 (Code P0301) and had to replace it, I figured I might as well replace the other 3 for peace of mind.

Re: It's bigger on the inside.

Update:

Another tune up

Actual miles was like 149,72X cant remember exactly, should of wrote it down, next time lol. but basically it's for my 150K tune up.

Basically the same as when I first got the car. My plan was to replace stuff when I got it so I can know whats in it, and basically flush it out of the old stuff, oil, coolant, trans fluid, and then leave it how it should be at 150K and then replace it at its regular maintenance interval as suggested in previous posts along with the other stuff... Except for the oil, and oil filter, as that is every 5K, but basically my car should be good to go for awhile

Ok so here is what I did this Sat. 5/30/15

Water Pump - Aisin with metal gasket.
Spark Plugs - NGK Platinum
Oil - Mobile 1 5w-30 Synthetic - High mileage.
Oil Filter - Napa Gold - Made by Wix
Trans fluid - Royal Purple 75w-90
Coolant - Pentofrost A4
Thermostat - Napa - Altrom brand with gasket.
Radiator Cap - Napa - Sankei brand.
Air Filter - Napa Gold - Made by Wix
Cabin Air Filter - Napa Gold - Made by Wix
PCV Valve - Napa - Sankei
Coolant Hoses - 3 - Napa belts and hoses brand - Made by Gates.
Heater Core Hoses - 2 - Napa belts and hoses brand - Made by Gates.
Belts - 2 - Napa belts and hoses brand - Made by Gates.
Motor Mount - Front passenger side - Autozone.

The only thing that I wasn't able to replace was the power steering pump belt, I was able to put a socket on it, but not enough room for the ratchet. Gotta buy like a swivel socket set... So will be going back in this weekend to replace it lol

Oh and the water pump looked really clean, it was barely starting to show signs of it leaking at the weep hole. When I bought the car I had asked the guy if it had ever been replaced, and he said no, so figured this would be a good time to replace it either way for peace of mind, and guess it was good for 150K. The PCV valve also sounded good, but figured I would replace it anyway.

Re: It's bigger on the inside.

Another update:

150,2xx miles.

Car had been getting hot on the freeway. Got up to 220 once. But never had the light come on.

I had the radiator cleaned, "Rod out" and still no change.

So on 7/3/15 I used some stuff to clean out the cooling system, "Macs 1400 Radiator Cleaner, Dissolves Rust & Scale".

Also installed new radiator, and switched back to Zerex Asian coolant.

It is running a lot cooler now, so hopefully that did the trick. Will just have to keep checking on it to make sure it is all good.

Re: It's bigger on the inside.

Update:

Did oil change at 154,899 my light kept blinking on startup so time to change it as the light kept bugging me lol I wanted to get closer to the 155 mark but whatever XD

Napa Gold oil Filter.
Mobil 1 5w-30 Synthetic High Mileage oil.

Reset the light and everything is back to normal, running great

How much will it cost to have your windshield replaced?

Mine was around 120-130. Don't remember the exact amount. That was the cheapest I found after calling around. The guy came to my home and installed it there.

So just call around and see who will give you the lowest price and if they will come to you to install it or if you have to take your car to them to do it and just go with whatever option works best for you!

Re: It's bigger on the inside.

Update:

157,6XX really need to start writing that down when I do work lol

I installed new Monroe struts and shocks, along with Tanabe DF210 lowering spings, and also new Energy Suspension sway bar bushings and end links. Oh and did an alignment even though it felt ok but it did need to get tweaked just a little bit! Pic 1 and 2 box and springs, pic 3 strut with spring installed ready to be put in! Wish I would of taken more pics XD
