Noise coming from rear end!

Heys guys and gals im new to the forum so i hope im posting in the right area for this! i got a 2005 Release 2.0 Solar yellow xB. well first the car has
91,xxx miles on it. im hearing the noise when i go over small bumps in the road. the noise kinda sounds like metal rubbing together/creaking. i can recreate the noise if i grab the rear tire well and pull up and down on the vehicle. i wanna say its the shock/strut in the rear. Also it can occur when letting off the brakes, i dont know if it is caused by gasing the car and putting stress on something. i inspected it there is small amounts of rust and no leaking. idk what it could be! Everything on the vehicle is stock.

Start with a close inspection of the rear shock on the side the noise is coming from.

Look at the top and bottom mounting points for deteriorated bushings.

Re: Noise coming from rear end!

I looked at bushing on the left side and compared them, Left side looks pretty bad with some rust and the right looked pretty good actually. Soon i wanna replaced my shocks but where would i buy replacement bushings and bolts for the top of the rear strut?

Bushings, etc should come with new shocks.

I use Koni Yellows and they're awesome, plus you can adjust how firm/soft they are without having to disassemble the entire assembly. You can pick them up on fastscions.com, Corsport, and a few other sites.

Monroe makes a good set for the xB as well.

(Not a dude.)

Have you heard of our Lord and Savior Plasti-Dip?
