Re: What did you do to your xb today??

Yesterday I had to replace the struts on my black xB. every time I hit a little bump it would smack really hard. apparently the foam cushions around my strut shaft were gone! like disintegrated gone. it was metal-on-metal smacking everytime I hit a bump. I also noticed that I need a lower ball joint went to the local parts store to see if they had one cuz I don't want to put a used one in there are a hundred and $104 here and 13.00 on Amazon.. needless to say I'm going to go to the Amazon option.

I drove the project box yesterday. Cruised around for a little bit with the kids with the top down.

Re: What did you do to your xb today??

I just replaced the swing arms. Easier and faster than repressing the ball joints out and in again. Unless you have access to a press.

This xB is up for sale here in Texas. Needs a new motor, but it's pretty sweet.

Nope it's still there. It does have a missing head unit and a cut on the interior. I forgot about that. If I had the money to spare I'd still get it though.

I think it was up for 3,000, but it's been a while. If you give him a price and tell him you're ready to buy he might do it. Fallow him on FB he gets hard up for cash every couple months.

Re: What did you do to your xb today??

I still canít make my own post/threads! Though now I think I figured out the noise, itís the AC compressor. Iím sure itís when it disengages the clutch(?) however I noticed the other day and today that the AC was blowing warm even though beforehand it was cold as can be. It idles somewhat rough throughout all this, even though I assumed the issue was with the fan motor, and the fan still kicks on and then off again.

Iím more sure now that itís the AC clutch not engaging properly and bogging down the engine.

Then again Iím only YouTube mechanic certified.

Is there anything I can do without having to invest in replacing the compressor? I canít do an AC delete with our 100+į weather here. Also, is there anything I can do about not being able to create my own posts/threads? I hate to be posting in threads that arenít related to the issue at hand.

---------- Post added 07-06-2018 at 04:28 PM ----------

I also cleaned out the MAF and IAC valve, adjusted the throttle cable and replaced the fan motor.

---------- Post added 07-06-2018 at 04:30 PM ----------

Is there somewhere I can use WD40 or PB Blaster to lubricate something?

---------- Post added 07-06-2018 at 04:32 PM ----------

And lastly, is there anything else I can do to verify my hypothesis? Relays? Fuses? Sensors?

Re: What did you do to your xb today??

No worries, Iím just trying to weigh my options with this. I gave the center hole a little spray of PB Blaster and it seemed to kinda help. But itís probably one of those bandaids on a sucking chest wound type deals. Iím looking into a compressor/clutch combo in case the clutch part is something thatís non replaceable. I have a buddy at work who has the tools to work on AC systems so that will help, itís only a matter of time.

Hopefully it lasts until the end of summer, but with my luck lately.... who knows haha.

Re: What did you do to your xb today??

I decided to clean my front seats with the upholstery attachment for the carpet cleaner we got a few days ago. Amazing how much crap comes out and how dirty the water gets after just one seat is cleaned! Will post pics after I run the cleaner on them one more time.
