I love the fact that this topic is still open and that we still have people that roll roof racks. From a retail side, the roof rack business has declined drastically over the years with the hitch market offering hitches for just about everything under the sun now. As always, this thread is 100% Rack God approved!

I just joined the Scion xB scene this year. About as late to the party as it gets. Hahahaha!
My motto is "If you can't buy it, build it". I tend to look way past normal when it comes to ideas, but I am sure there are many who have come this way before.
Thanks for keeping the lights on.

I'm running the Thule 480r foot pack and aero bars. These things are quiet! I have square bars on my Landcruiser and the difference is huge. Also, using 53" bars instead of the 60" bars Thule recommends because they just looked too long (plus I hit my head twice). I think the fitted look is better. So far I've hauled three kayaks and regularly have my mtb up there.

I have the Rapid Traverse Foot Pack (480R) and the 1172 fit kit. Not sure the fit kit is still available, I found mine on eBay. Might be worth calling Thule though, their CS is fantastic. REI and Rack-N-Road keep a great inventory, could try them as well.
Thule calls for 60" Aeroblades(ARB60), but I'm running 53" Aeroblades (ARB53).
Hope that helps, good luck!

Got my rack on today. Took a bit to collect all the parts.
Q towers $15 Craigslist w/4 new end caps and 2 locks
Q clips $40 craigslist brand new
My dad had 2 66" crossbars that I cut down.
I traded in some old rain gutter towers and some Thule crossbars at Rack and Road in Seattle. Got $50 credit towards a New style 52" Yakima Fairing. Ended up paying $50+tax

Paid $115 total. Just need 2 more lock cores.

Loving the 52" fairing. I guess they just came out.

Got my rack from the junk yard ( 15 dollars pull a part) its off of
a windstar . fit the roof profile perfect. Installed thread serts in my roof and have had it on there for 5 years no problems, use it for a storage box, when we travel. I really like it cross bars adjust and it's a low profile. Here's a closeup of it and with the box on it

Re: show us yer RACKS! さくら

Picked this rack up at a wrecking yard a couple years ago and finally got around to installing it this weekend.

Had to straighten up and remove some dents in a couple of the tubes and polish it all up to get it to look half way decent.

It was on a camper shell. Not sure what it was on originally but the front actually angled in to a point, like an arrow. I don't really like that look so I left the front part off.

Re: show us yer RACKS! さくら

Hi all! Can anyone tell me if the 1st Gen xb yakima racks will fit on the 2nd Gen xb? Pulled the racks off my 2006 which was totaled and was wondering if I could use them on my new 2015.
Would hate to have to buy new ones.
Thanks!
