Re: Alberta xB'ers?
This was back in 2007. Since they were still pretty hard to come by, the prices were jacked hardcore. You could buy a bone stock xB1 for 14,080 plus taxes i'm assuming. When I bought mine there were a couple choices.
A) 2006.1 BOP, 5 speed, 14k miles, loaded interior, tinted front to back, OEM fog lights and rear spoiler, and a massive 6" tipped eBay special axleback exhaust.
B) 2006.5 BCP, auto, 1500 miles, no extras.
C) Silver, auto, 24k miles, no extras.
All three were priced at $24,995. Their excuse for the price jack was the import fees and red tape, as well as the general rarity of the car at the time. I ponied up the cash for a few reasons, like the inability to finance a fresh xB from the states, the xB I bought had everything I could want, and I didn't have to deal with travelling to the nearest USA Scion dealership and figuring out all the customs and import fees. If I did that myself I could have saved about $6,000 off the sticker price considering all the extras.
Now adays i'm sure you can find a lowish mileage xB for a decent price. There was an RS2.0 that was lowered, tinted, enkei rims, etc for $16,995 at Heritage Auto in Calgary. If you are willing to get higher miles, you could probably almost find one under $10k, but kinda doubt it.
