thoughts on windshield wiper sprayer not working on front glass.

Just purchased a 11 xb for my wife. 40k miles.

Bought used as is no warranty. Nice car, but we just realized that the front windshield washer is not spraying at all.

Rear is spraying fine.

So when I engage the front pump, I can hear it turn on but no fluid sprays.

When I engage the rear washer, it sprays fine.

Possible that the pump under the washer bottle is bad? That it would only pump on rear and not front?

Looks like the front bumper needs to come off to do that job?

Other possibility is the fluid line is kinked, it looks like it runs up under the hood liner. Does not look kinked, but I will need to buy a clip puller to get that liner off without busting it.

It would not be the fuse because the pump is engergizing when I press the stalk.

Any thoughts on this one?

Thanks,

JH6

There are two pumps on the windshield washer reservoir, one for the front and one for the rear.

Since you can hear the pump working it isn't a pump issue which only leaves a few things to check. The sprayers themselves may be clogged with deposits, the lines might be clogged, or the y-splitter/check valve under the hood liner may be clogged or put in the wrong direction. It only flows one way so if it was removed and reinstalled wrong the sprayers will not get any water to them.

Regarded the bolded, that's what happened with me. I took a safety pin and poked the dirty stuff out of the holes, and it's worked fine since. I'm guessing that it's probably not this simple for JH6, but he might get lucky with an easy fix.

Thanks I'm going to take the sprayers off and clean them. Going to soak them in hot water and white vinegar. Need to get a trim puller to get the hood liner off to check the hoses.
