Re: Dip your ride????
Ahh yes I believe someone has dipped their whole XB. I've used it on my front lip and bumper. I also had it on my hood and hatch but didn't like it so i just peeled it off.
I'd suggest a ventilated garage to avoid dust or dirt landing on your wet plati-dip.
The trick is patience and very even light coatings. Let it build up. Do not be tempted to lather it on or it will turn out horrible.
I rattle canned mine with a trigger gun to make it a little more ergonomic on the hands. Preparation is also key, make sure the surface is clean and free of any dirt or grime.

Re: Dip your ride????
and no wax... it holds up well when you get thick coats down (building on the light coats) BUT if hit a rock and have it on your roof and use a specialty windshield cleaner (bug remover/deicer and all that smooth stuff) it WILL start to peal up..

I did the top of my rear bumper, after removing the bumper protector thing that was peeling up. It came out great except that sand builds up like crazy on it. I waxed it n now less sand builds up, but still gets a lil bit.
One of my buddies did his wheels n the same thing happens with the sand

Be sure to keep as dust free of an environment as possible.
The cans suggest a way to create a textured grip by adding pumice. I had to try it. Adding the grit removes the ability to peel it off. Point blank with a pressure washer was the only way to take it off.

I've dipped my grille recently, and also my wheels to make it through the winter.

I did the plastidip just in case I didn't like it. I will do a more "stable" finish later but I wanted to get it done to see what it looks like.

Re: Dip your ride????
They also make the spray cans in White, and I assume other colors.
Be sure to get the spray nozzles that sit and cover the top of the can like Invisible glass aerosol cans do. Classic 'necked' nozzles clog fast.

Re: Dip your ride????
I'm planning on doing this to my 18s. They had some rash and the clear was peeling when I bought them. Can I do multiple layers with this? Would tape pull it off?
