another new guy
Well, I can't say I've never owned a non mainstream car before LOL, always been attracted to cars that were a bit different. I've owned some strange ones over the years, a trabant, renault Le car, and a citreon 2cv to name a few. The Xb was different enough to get my eye and meet my needs, mainly it's cheaper to feed than my durango. I was extremely surprised by the room inside the little toaster. While it won't win any races, it's peppy enough and handles well enough to make it a fun little car to drive.
My background is as a drag racer { old school pushrod V8s} and a rally driver for many years using modded VW GTI's and Porsche 944's, I have a hobby biz rebuilding air cooled Porsche engines as time allows and I ride dualsport motorcycles. While I know nothing of the little engines in the Xb, I'm sure I will learn a ton from you younger tuner guys that love these cars. I can't wait to see how cool you all have modded your cars.

I do agree that the rear fender and hatch area make me think SRP as well. Hard to tell on this one.

And here I thought it was burgundy lol. Love the cat, took the son up to Jamestown and was getting 37 mpg, sure beats 14 in the beast. I dont plan on many mods, but I will mod the seats, sits way to low in the front of the seats. Have some ideas for a custom center console/ arm rest and a camper type conversion thats east to instal with the back.seats down with a hand made tent conversion when the hatch is up ..... now if I could squeeze about a hundred more ponies out of it lol .... actually .... what was Toyota thinking when they made the final drive so steep, 3400 rpm is a bit much for 65 mph , any tranny swap mods I should know about.
sent from my G'zOne commando, the KLR phone.

Re: another new guy
wasn't serious about getting any more ponies from the little 1.5ltr, be pointless with the stock tranny anyways. At the moment, all I can tell you is it's an '06, have to check on the build date. I know up close it kinda has a slightly purpleish tint to it in bright sun if that's any help, speaking of, has there ever been any tranny swaps done on these, it pulls hard in 5th from about 55mph, no reason they couldn't ahve lowered the rpms 5 0r 600 rpm at 65

Welcome Gunny to the site!!
Are you driving a 5 spd or at? I know in my gen2 the auto actually gets better hwy milage than the 5 spd but reversed in town. I also have a bit more pep than the gen1 but I love em both!
Eventually they will decide what color you actually have until then maybe you can check the color code on the inside of the door and make the process a little faster for em...
Again welcome to the site and your find looks absolutely great!!
