hey guys.

I've been using synthetic engine oil for about 5 years or so for my 04 xB.

I just did an oil change and forgot to tell the mechanics to put synthetic oil and they put regular oil in it.

Now, I see A LOT of conflicting messages on switching from synthetic oil to regular oil and its affect on the engine...

What do you think? My mechanic of course says it's fine...

When it come to motor oil it's like this. If you change your oil every 3000 miles like you should, use conventional if you are lazy changing oil, use synthetic.

AFAIK, no automobile mfr recommends 3000 mile oil changes. They can't all be wrong.

If you use regular then do oil change every 5K miles, you can go 6K on synthetic in xB. Cars that hold large amount of oil in the crankcase, like 8-9 qts can go longer. Switching between synthetic and regular is OK. Just make sure the level is at the top.
