Re: Mounting a 5-panel Wink Mirror in a Scion xB

On the last 3 that I've installed I used aquarium adhesive and stuck them to the windshield using the middle and outside mounts (4 mounts in all) and have maintained the visors. By attaching it to the glass it comes out to about the same place as factory. It does make it a little more difficult to adjust for more than 1 driver with 4 mounts, it makes it rock steady though.

That sounds like what I want to hear, BMan. Are you talking about the old black aquarium adhesive for metal frame aquariums, or the clear adhesive for glass aquariums? Pix?

Either should be easier on the fragile window glass than the epoxy that's usually used.

I don't have any pics of the installs and I've used both (whatever was easy to find at the time) but I think the black is better for life in UV.

Re: Mounting a 5-panel Wink Mirror in a Scion xB

I went with the Wink window mounts. I'll probably reinforce, possibly even replace, them with a t-bar mounted from the original Scion mirror holes, going to the 1/4" threads at the rear of the Wink.

There's enough room to still use the OEM sun visors.

Here are photos of my center support made from Home Depot metal strips. I'll have to paint/wrap the bare metal, but the Wink mirror is solidly mounted now.

Re: Mounting a 5-panel Wink Mirror in a Scion xB

Finished the install by painting my homemade center support bracket black. Only thing left to do is maybe wrap the vertical support (see above) with black electrical tape to eliminate the racing/lightening hole look.

That's funny, I've been using those same metal strips from home depot to make the mount for mine. Had my neighbor weld the two strips together though.

Re: Mounting a 5-panel Wink Mirror in a Scion xB

Sweet set-up! I recently got a five panel to upgrade from the 4 panel I'm running now. I like the way you did your mounts cause I'll be able to run my sun visors again.

Since the front page rod bending article, has anybody thought to incorporate the two into brackets from the oem visor mount positions? From this article I am thinking of doing a wink mirror and visor delete when wrapping my headliner

Victor's (PCH's) Wink mirror mounting brackets are made of bent rods.

How is looking out the front window? Does the Mirror get in the way?
