2011 xB LED taillight question...
So I'm a first time owner of an xB. I'd like to put on some LED taillights. The problem I have is that I'm not sure what previous model year taillights (if any of them) actually fit the 2011 xB. By fit I mean they really fit the space and there are no glaring gaps or fitting issues.
I appreciate any advice you have.

That's the whole reason why I'm asking. I haven't heard of anyone doing 2011 tailights either and I've called a couple manufacturers and the answer so far is that there are no plans.
So if there no plans for 2011 aftermarket tail lights, I just want to know if any previous model years fit correctly. That's the $1 million question.

If someone already has an aftermarket set from a previous model year and access to a 2011 to test then I'd be happy to hear if it works.
I'm just hoping that this isn't going to be one of those "years" that the aftermarket companies decide to take a break and then BAM, Scion makes a body change again on the 2012 but the 2011 folks are left with nothing.
I was going to get the aftermarket LED's that Scion was offering as an option but I just got off the phone with the dealership and found out that Scion isn't going to offer them anymore. No explanation beyond that, just that they weren't going to offer them anymore.

I think the 1/4 panels are the same i think maybe its the light sockets . The 2008 -10 have reverse light on the bottom.

Grrrr....No love for the 2011 owners.
We're almost halfway into the 2011 model year right? I know things take time, but this is getting a little discouraging.

You say the wiring is different. That could be overcome, maybe.
What about this physical fit? If it does, how well? I'd like to hear an absolutely critical (not necessarily negative) opinion on the fit.

Biggest problem if you are able to fit any of the current aftermarket taillights of the 08-10 in there is that you will loose your reverse lights.

Respectfully, the biggest problem is whether or not 2011 gets anything at all.

Re: 2011 xB LED taillight question...
i doubt the 2011s will get much of anything in the terms of tail lights its just the way the market goes. you might see one company start to build them soon but i doubt it.... Custom time

Re: 2011 xB LED taillight question...
Is there something about the 2011 model year that is causing the aftermarket companies to avoid it?
TRD has a limited line of stuff but that's all I have seen that is aftermarket for 2011.
I know it takes time to develop things, but to have a few of the major aftermarket companies already saying they have no plans for the 2011 is not something I like hearing.

Re: 2011 xB LED taillight question...
It normally take a model year or two for companies to make parts for any car and then they will start when they see enough interest for it. It does have to be profitable. I suspect when you see a 2012 model release that you will start to see some more products for the 2011.

Re: 2011 xB LED taillight question...
I agree. THey will wait to see what cosmetic changes are made to the '12 MY xB before they make parts. Otherwise, they spent a whole year customizing parts for the '11 MY, and only have 1 year's worth of owner's to market it to.
On a side note, for fitament on '10 MY LEDs and '11: The 08-10s had the reverse light in the bumper. So the LEDs for the previous years dont have a reverse light in them. NOW...if you bought a pair, you could simply mod the big brake light. Since it is the dominant portion of the light, cut half out, solder in white LEDs...and hook the white LEDs up to your existing reverse light wiring. Everything else can just be either hooked up, or direct-connect the wires. It sounds like work, but if you can look at a pair of '10 LEDs, I'm sure you would see it wouldn't be tough. I am going to work on some of these, since I have a 2011 RS. You think your '11 xB has it rough, try finding ANY body panel mod that will fit a 2011 xB 8.0! :-)

Re: 2011 xB LED taillight question...
If anybody happens to find a reliable source for these I'd be interested also. For now, I'm just going to spray my stock taillights down with some Nite Shade and keep my eyes open for some Euro style lights. I know I saw some on eBay a few weeks ago (had reverse lights built in and all) but it would appear they have already sold out. I'll keep my eyes open for anything else.

Re: 2011 xB LED taillight question...
Does anyone know if the tail lights labeled as scion xb LED tail lights would fit on the 2011 xb? or even the stock toyota rumion tail lights? I know they're kind of expensive, but if that's the only way to go right now, I just might have to get em..
