Noticed that in my Hypermiling days. It does it on small hills too.

Pshhhhh...I will gladly spend the extra 2 and a half minutes driving up an incline to save myself a few cents at the pump.

25 MPG! Yeah Right! Anything in 3rd gear at Highway Speeds in an auto is <20MPG.

Yes, the computer will stay in 3rd for a little bit after inclines. Even when you coast and re-apply gas, the computer may still wanna be in 3rd. To alleviate that problem, toggle the O/D button twice on the stick and the car will shift into 4th (as long as you are not going up an incline, in which case the car will remain in 3rd.)

Agreed, the only mod where you see any gains is a header upgrade. Its only noticeable at highway speeds, and barely noticeable at that. Exhaust, no gain. Intake, maybe a little gain at the 4000+RPM.

Re: Going up hills sucks !!!!!!
That's what I was thinking, not that I don't plan on modding the engine eventually, but I know it won't give me huge gains... Boxy was made for low n slow anyway
I did get a small gain when I changed air filters to k&n but wasn't enough to really be excited over.

True. Autos can't approach this kind of fuel economy.

Re: Going up hills sucks !!!!!!
Ditto what Bigruss said my 5 speed has no problem with hills. At 80mph and 4000 rpm your in the sweet spot and getting pissed off when the other drivers slow down in front of you because they can't keep a constant speed.

I believe you, but listening to a Florida guy talk about hills is like listening to a Nebraska guy giving advice on surfing.

Yeah the highest point in FL is about 400ft or something. Lol. I just turn off OD and it cruises up the hills.

Re: Going up hills sucks !!!!!!
you should avoid turning off OD, but if your just going up a hill you MPG will suck anyways.
