About ready to buy this car... Good or bad deal?

I am really interested in buying a Xb. I can't afford a new car so I have been looking at used cars. I have done a little but of research but I would really love some input from people who know the car. Let me know if anything sounds odd. What should I be watching out for? I would really appreciate it.

Price = $5,945 for tax/listene/smog

2005 Scion Xb
Engine - 4 cylinder
Trans - Manual
Mileage - 104,182
Color - Grey exterior, black interior, black rims

Re: About ready to buy this car... Good or bad deal?

Hey DANY, at first this sounds like a good deal, But I have a carfax account and I had a few more reports i could get with my membership so I thought I would look up the history on this car for ya seeing I have now finished finding and purchasing my own used scion XB. DONT BUY THIS XB MAN. There is SEVERE damage from an undisclosed incident to this xb was in back in 2008. What ever happened to the car was so bad that it was considered a "Total loss vehicle" in carfax. This means that 75% or more of the value of the car was lost! so it must have been pretty bad. This xb has had a total of 4 owners. The first owner had it almost four years and put the first 66000 miles on it. then the car was damaged as I explained above. The car was repaired and sold to the 2nd owner. The 2nd owner had it 2 years and got into another wreck with it then sold it. The 3rd owner must have had lots of problems with it because he/she got rid of it after owning it just one month. The car was then sold to it's FOURTH owner who is trying to sell the car now. Who ever owns this car now had only had it a year and a half. This car has a "salvage title" and sounds like it would be best to stay away from buying it. The 1st generation Scion xb (2004-2006) are really amazing cars. I just got one a month ago that was driven 134,000 miles but it runs and looks like a new box. It uses no oil and from what I have seen in looking at it's past records i believe it has yet to need one repair outside of regular maintenance. I did spend a little too much for it paying 8000.00 for it, the dealer was asking 9500 for it originally,

Great analysis. +1 on "No Deal" on the xB. There are plenty of other xBs in better condition. What is your location? If I find something I'll post something on this thread.

#1 Try To Look On This Board For One Locally For Sale.

#2 Try To Look On Another Site Such As www.CraigsList.com

#3 Possibly Look Into A Local Auction..

Just DONT rush into anything. I would do a VIN Check on ANY car that you are even thinking about purchasing to make sure that its not a Lemon or a Salvage title etc.

You can always offer a private party or a dealer whatever "you" feel the car is worth.. Whats the worst they can say is No? Then you either counter there offer or say thank you and move on.. You are in no rush to purchase a car correct?

Looks like a good deal to me as well. The one JCxb found. My only concern is the fact that it is on it's third owner.

The car is well-taken care of from what I seen. I wouldn't be too concerned. Just make sure you see the care in person and it is what you want. Best part is that is a clean title.
