I'm not sure if i should have posted this here but I seem to need to replace all of my splash guards- where is the best place to find these. Ebay is confusing me. I'm also on the look out for a new grill. I dont even know where to start so if you have preferred sites or stores id really appreciate some tips.

Re: Splash guards

buy them from ebay just make sure to note which is let and right. I bought them ebay and then went to clipsandfasteners.com to find the retainer clips that hold them in (in which there is two kinds but the ones i bought are more universal that fit the same - should at least) since I didn't find any that had them with the clips

mine were ~53USD a piece and they are perfect.

Re: Splash guards

xB1s didn't come standard with splash guards, so you can run without them. If you mean fender liners, those connect to the inner fenders and the lower lip of the front bumper.

I thought it was called a splash guard.. you tell me..

the black liner in my wheel well was riding on my tire so i cut it off because there was no way i could anchor it at the time - then a mechanic told me im going to have to replace them all because the guy before me did something to them after the car was wrecked. the black liner is to protect water from getting into the engine is what im told.. MAN im in way over my head aren't I?

Re: Splash guards

after driving around a couple of months with no fender liners its just better to have them. I had rocks and dirt in everything and it sprayed water on my short ram intake which is the ultimate reason why I bought new ones along with the fact that salt/snow does SO MUCH DAMAGE to anything in cars

Re: Splash guards

Obsessed, I think of mud flaps when I think splash guards. Fender liners also fit the description, so neither of us is wrong. Lifex iand your mechanic are right, you want that protection against water splash. More than a few car owners have bought new engines because their engines swallowed too much water. Water isn't compressible, ergo hydraulic lock or hydrolock results - instant bent connecting rods.

So get new fender liners. When you install them, you're going to learn just how badly the previous owner messed up your ride. The bottoms of the fender liners bolt to the bottom lip of your bumper, if it's properly aligned. G/L!

---------- Post added 10-21-2011 at 12:58 PM ----------

There are four fender liners, front and rear on both sides. I was talking about the fronts, but the rears serve similar purposes & have similar alignment issues.

Re: Splash guards

Lifex is right. The rear fenders are metal, with spray-on undercoating. My bad.

Re: Splash guards

You'll need them come monsoon season. Not worth hydrolocking your engine in the rain.

Re: Splash guards

This thread is why you looked under your xB, & discovered the silicon connection to your front lip, isn't it?

I've stalled two cars out by splashing enough water into the air horn to swell their paper filters shut.

Well actually i had one and it fell onto my tire and was making this awful noise and so .. improvising i cut it off. I realized the other one was missing because the guy who fixed the problem i was having with my exhaust manifold lets a pair of pliers hanging from my car. Now im just hoping the car is well enough alined to be able to fot both of them
