Every time I start my xb I get that nasty high pitch squealing noise for like 30 seconds to a minute before it stops. Has anybody else experienced this issue and/or could somebody tell me what's wrong with my xb and how I can fix it?
Check your belts, might need to be replaced or tension adjusted. Look in the DIY section for the "how to" it will have pics and explain it all for you.
replaced my belts about a year and half ago but once the temp dropped this fall they started squealing. I found this video on youtube that shows how to tighten the alternator adjuster and put a little more pressure on the belt. I did it last night and I was able to get almost 1/4" adjustment on it, it was very loose apparently. Started it up and no more squeal. here is the video link:
