transmission filter question (2006 xb)

maybe i posted to the wrong thread but;

i was wondering if anyone has replaced their automatic transmission filter lately and can give me insight to the process.

we have replaced the fluid 2 times already and it still looks dirty. i dont believe the drain and fill is the right way to go.

i plan on using the toyota t-IV fluid

i was wondering what the torque specs are on the transmission pan bolts are and if there is a correct part # for the transmission filter and gasket kit.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: transmission filter question (2006 xb)

If the oil pan gasket is not leaking don't worry about the filter. Let the shop do the flush with the fluid exchange machine. They can use T-IV fluid on your request, but Synthetic BG trans fluid is fine also.
If you really want to do the pan gasket and stainer the steps and torques are covered here: http://scionlife.org/Scion_Docs/2004...eplacement.pdf

I just bought a 2006 xb and need to drain the trans fluid, is the hex bit drain head 10mm or 14mm ?

10mm I think for the pan bolts

And 14mm for drain and fill

*I think.

We got a drain and fill 3 weeks ago and I haven't been down there to check. I want to do a filter replacement but haven't really had the extra funds or time.

Pan screws are 10mm and plug is 10mm allen/hex drive. Auto trans gets filled through the dipstick tube.

How much transmission fluid should I buy if I drop the pan?

I remember 4 quarts but not sure.
