"Maintenance required" light on

The 'maint req' light on the panel was flashing, which I know means it's time for an oil change. I had the oil changed several weeks ago, and now the light has gone from flashing to being on all the time. I checked ALL fluid levels and they are fine.

My suspicion is that there is an electronic counter that would normally have been re-set had I taken the car to a dealer for the oil change. [This is the case with our Mini Cooper S] I simply did not have time to spend half a day or more at a dealer, so I had Valvoline change it.

I'm hoping to avoid a session at the dealership, as this seems similar to the "check engine" light in other cars that basically means a blank-check trip to the dealer ($$$$$$)

Any feedback appreciated

Thumbs up Re: "Maintenance required" light on

I tried the printed instructions and BINGO! Worked like a charm. A very useful piece of information that they left out of the owner's manual. At least I didn't see it.

I was going to reset it for 3K, but I was so facinated watching the countdown on the odometer panel that I let it reset completely.

Thanks for all the support. I need to log in more often

You need to be in "Trip A" mode instead of "ODO"

Re: "Maintenance required" light on

I wish I read this post earlier. I just dropped a wasted $50 at Toyota to get them to reset the light.
